OT: next weeks rocket launch in Florida

A few years ago, probably 15 or so already, I was feeding calves outside shortly after dawn one pleasant morning .I suddenly saw what looked like a comet in the SSE sky, rising vertically from the horizon, disappearing briefly and then reappearing a bit higher at an angle. I thought "what the...

    Feeding 10 cows silage?

I think that would be possible assuming it would be in the cold winter months using a long pile/bunker and narrow exposed face so you could remove 6-12 inches a day. When the weather warms up in the spring you likely won't be able to keep ahead of the spoilage. Proper packing and moisture is...

    Fifty Years ago tonight

Yes I remember, I was 8 years old. Was in our livingroom with the Christmas tree, saw it on TV and remember mom talking about it.

    Math Sucks (Sometimes)

    Out chopping corn, pioneer style

That's right, and I'm not THAT old but we (me included) cut, loaded and fed ensilage cutter by hand. 3-4 acres to fill a 10×30 wooden silo, one of the first built in the county in 1917. We did that until about 1970.

    Fordson at local fair

Was looking at this nicely restored Fordson with an old fellow who knew someone back in the day who put 2 eggs and oatmeal in the radiator each time he used it. I thought he was pulling my leg about cooking his breakfast, but he said the radiator leaked so bad this was the stopleak treatment.

o/t I better get moving faster

Be glad they didn't land on your roof. Have you ever heard the tale that if they're on your roof then death is imminent in the house. This was the fact indeed several years ago in our neighborhood when an elderly lady was passing away there were buzzards on her barn roof just hours prior.
