    1850 transmission oil line

Take chain off, out of the way you've more room to swing stubby or crow foot wrenches. Then put chain back on making sure ALL LINKS are properly assembled. I recommend a tight NEW chain with less sloop as the chain is the most common cause these oil line failures. Fernan

    Papec grinder/mixer

Is the gear box leaking? Shouldn't be difficult pulling the center auger up and out for a better look. There is usually an inspection panel on one side the bottom cone, that out of the way makes easier cleaning blowing or vacuuming clean the work area. Either bearing should be easily enough...

    cornstalk bales

We've rotary re-cut; raked 2 windrows combined corn stalks together and baled s quickly as we could get behind the early combining. Get the cornstalks early they contain more moisture than one may think. Then the bales were wrapped and fed 90 days later. Cornstalks baled later I've baled dry and...

    1655 3 speed

If you are talking final sprocket alignment slip a washer of proper thickness under engine and/or transmission motor mount bosses. The need of a washer here or there is not unusual. Sprockets aligned the chain coupling will turn smoother and last longer. Fernan

    4-150 pto clutch problems

Had same problem with an 1850 using new technology. Having to take it back apart a second time some changes had to be made. While the clutch disc basically remained the ppad configuration (same) more pads were added each side. No more clutch problems that tractor nor another equally rebuilt from...

    Oliver 1750 Gas Split head

Had same problem some years ago. The middle gasket does that occasionally. Have no idea the cause? I'd guess aging had something to do with it. Best could was a blank head gasket. Made a tight fitting punch out of drill rod to fit the bolt holes and punched out the required new holes. That was...

    1850 D

We've several 1850's. Had a factory welded shift fork break in one. Our shop equipped with an HM rolling crane, we pulled the engine assembly sitting it cross ways on the tub, rolled crane back and removed rockshaft housing. Took off to access both ends to pull shaft the fork was on. Other than...

    burnt ignition points

If you had put in a new condenser, replace the points and reinstall the old condenser. I learned dad's rule and it has worked fine for me for years. As long as the points wear out evenly keep use the condenser. Replace condenser if points unevenly wear or burn out. Oil will destroy points...
