    It sounds to me like the fuel filter is plugged on it. When this happens the engine will just die and you can’t restart it.     Static timing should be set at 6 degrees BTDC. Also, when installing the spark wires from distrib. to the plugs keep in mind that the distributor rotor turns counterclockwise.

    It could be a couple of things. The push button used to start the tractor could be stuck. Unhook one of the wires on it to determine if it is the problem. The other possibility is the wires for the push button are shorted together providing continuous current to the solenoid.
