    MF 238 sickle bar mower

MF made some good sickle mowers, I still use my 31 for Orchard grass hay cutting. You can get manual online. Remember to not mow over grass that was just cut, it will clog up.

    Vermeer 605c

The older C series can still be useful but are less forgiving when baling and need drier hay conditions than newer balers. Also need full width windrows to get hay rolling and forming, you need to zig zag when starting the new bale until you see it has properly formed. If you're going to do...

    MF 135 Front Weights

Ideal set up for you would be original suitcase weights sitting on the stock MF front weight bracket, and also liquid fill front tires. Since you are in my region I highly recommend Nolts Equipment in Newville PA, 717.776.6242. They specialize in MF tractors and have a salvage yard...

    Vermeer 504 super i

I have a couple Vermeer round balers also and I raise gate and then engage pto to get the belts turning and to clean out chaff and hay debris when baling. I'd expect your belts will turn when you lift gate up fully and then engage pto. You can register your baler on Vermeers website and...

    165 and 178

My 165D had a screen that I cleaned with solvent and put back in. Also clean out all the debris from the bottom housing real good. I've used a long nose fishing pliers to help wire tie when fingers not getting it done. When you put the pto handle lever back on check proper engagement in gears...

    Dyna balance mower

I still use MF 31 mower and this one works real good. Sickle mowers have limitations, but for me and for my grass hay fields is ok especially first cut when grass taller. Sickle mowers less ideal for 2nd cutting in late season. Like any mower, ensure well maintained and sections, guards look...

    Round Baler on a 65

A Vermeer 5400 Rebel, or 504 models are good and only need about 40 pto hp, and can make 4x5 or smaller. I have run my 165D on old Vermeer 504 and a 5400 no problems. The 65 hydraulics gpm are like a 165 and low output so raising gate will be a bit slower than newer model tractors but I got by...

    Badger baler

Yes Vermeer made them, same as 504C I believe. I still have mine but rarely used as backup now since got a Vermeer 5400 Rebel. The Badger did ok, but finicky with hay conditions and windrow size, must zig zag when starting a new bale.

    Massy D-EO 20 rake

I bought a few last year at Tractor Supply Co. for my DEO 20 rake. Some TSC stores have Masse rake teeth. Take one off of your rake it and bring it with you to TSC or other tractor store that sells Massey rake teeth and match to verify.

    Small baler

I've had good success running Vermeer round balers, the 504 I is good and only needs about 45 pto hp. The Vermeer 5400 Rebel also good, I got one couple years ago, and only needs 40 pto hp. Both make 4 x 5 bales, which you can also limit to 4 x 4 if you want. I still keep my real old 504 C...

    Avoid hot bale storage

Sharing something that is easy way to ensure avoiding storing hot round bales and fire hazards, may help some beginners. Few years ago I took a couple 4 foot, half inch pipes for checking how hot the inside of bales were after felt warm by hand inside barns and I noticed more unusual smells...

Looking to buy a MF 165...what to look for? good price?

Main advice is to take your time to really check out and not rush. Diesel preferred. Cold start engine should turn easy look for excess smoke at exhaust that may be engine problem. Listen to engine sound, no loud taps. Run until warms up, look underneath for steady oil drips. A few sporadic...

Did I get an okay deal on my new to me 1968 165?

Looks like a decent deal for you. The roll bar (ROPS) is worth about $700 to 1k US, plus FEL adds $1.5 to 2k. If rear tires good a bonus, they can cost $500 to 700 installed each. Those all add up. It's a great tractor, lots of folks here to assist maintenance, etc

    MF 255 Hydraulic issue

I'd first evaluate the simple things. You mentioned putting Draft control in Constant Pumping, note the inner Position Control lever is used to place system in that mode. Assuming you've move diverter valve through all positions and no luck. I would remove diverter to ensure stand pipe properly...
