    504 diesel balance shaft assembly

You do not need the balance assembly if you take the crankshaft out and get it balanced by a machinist. My dad had the same thing happen to his. A replacement balancer assemble was over $300, but getting it machined was less than $100. A four cylinder engine is inherently rough running. When...

the turbo moves the stack on the tractor far enough that you would have to modify the hood

    Carbon Monoxide Detector

CO is heavier than air. Current code (at least where i live) is one on each level of the house, including the basement. Basically, put one close to sources of CO ie garages, furnaces, etc. CO is a result of combustion, so if you place them near the source, the rest of the house should be fine

856 PTO turns off going down hills

could be as simple as the o ring on the pickup tube is bad. There is a chance as well that since it has been starved for fluid that you may have to replace your pto clutches as well- not a big deal

    Massey 65

I ran across a massey ferguson 65 that a guy has for sale. He is the second owner and says it is in excellent condition, and has been shed keep except for a few weeks before he bought it. It is a gas and has a mid mount sickle mower on it and that is about all it has been used for. I dont know...

    F-656, factory non-fendered

For what its worth, Im not sure that having lights on the sides necesarily means it was non fendered. My dad has an 856 with flat tops and lights on the side. the 66 series had lights in front and on the fenders.

    Pole shed wiring

As an electrician by trade I would recommend using either conduit or MC cable in any ag building on account of rodents. Mice and rats can chew right through romex and expose the wires and potentially cause a short. MC cable is about as flexible as romex but witha metal sheath.

I did get some more info from the owner and he says it is a white 700. According to tractor data it was a canada only model. Any ideas on value?

    Reassembly/Cleaning

service manuals tell you to wash them off with solvent and let them air dry. Rags can leave lint and very small junk behind sometimes. They also say that you can feel very small impurities with your fingertips. (I forget the exact size)

    IH 504

I think it sounds like a fair price especially with all the attachments and if it runs as he says it does.
