    Try reversing the wires on your mega chip some old cast iron briggs have a reverse polarity coil.

    clean and reset points to .020. the points have closed up also check the points plunger for wear on both ends.

    That is an odd bar for that I checked normal would be 78 drivers. That is a special low kick low vibe bar and chain. Should run about 16-17 dollars when that bar wears out you can go back to the standard bar and chain.

    Take the plastic hand guard off 2 screws put yhe cover in the vice use the hand guard to unlock the chain brake reasemble.

    The problem is low voltage at the solenoid john deere has little kit with a relay and some wires to correct this very common problem on units with kawasaki engines.

    Satohparts.com has parts a little pricy but do have them. As far as steering locking up mine used to get water in the steering box and would freeze when cold,a new top gear box seal fixed it.

    That part number is correct according to the book but thebook says it should be six tooth. It is the same sprocket as a 020, ms200t and 009.

    Did you check the decompression valve on the camshaft it could have been damaged by the broken rod making it stick the intake valve open .
