    OT: question for JLeus

jackinok, Try using a open top 5 gal pail with a little grain in the bottom for bait, provide a ramp to the top with a ~4' pipe or tube of some sort with the one end near the middle of the pail and the other on the floor. Flip the bail over the pipe to keep it from rolling off. Works great for...

    OT -- Chainsaw

    8N Radiator - filler cap

Could someone look at their radiatior filler neck and check to see if the notches are in line with the radiatior core centerline? If they are, I will re-relocate the filler neck to correct the problem ........... I do not want to do it if it is the cap problem. Thanks

    8N Radiator - filler cap

My radiator cap tail is not orientied with the centerline of the tractor (see photo). Is the radiator filler neck misslocated or do I have a defective radiator cap? Thanks

    Rustoleum Spray Paint

The TISCO Ford Med Gray spray can TP 240 SP ($6.00 per can) along with quarts and gallons are available from Just 8Ns. I just bought a single can to see how it looks but have not used it yet. The can label states that it is a 'Heavy-Duty Alkyd Oil-Bassed Formula' and 'Contains Rust...

Hood and grill question on early 8N

Thanks all for the replies. Before start-up, I will be cracking the drain plugs to check for water. Transmission/differential/hydraulic lube looks like new but I do not know what it is so will try to determine what hydraulic problems I have before draining. I have replacement gaskets for...

Hood and grill question on early 8N

Hi John (again) Thanks for the reply. When I wrote to you before when I ordered some parts, I think I failed to mention the sheetmetal. Neither the hood or fenders have the 'Ford' script (I think your site mentioned that the script was later, maybe 1950 - I might add that you really have a...

Hood and grill question on early 8N

My very early 8N (manufactured in 1947 ?) hood has a through-the-hood type air cleaner inlet extension. The air cleaner assembly has the 'correct' early round bottom cup but has a top inlet. My grill has the four vertical slots in the center section with the 'Ferguson System' logo. It seems...

    Stabilizer bar bracket question?

Thanks, that is what I thought ..... the pivot pins must be in line or the three-point hitch movement would be limited / bind up. I for got to ask what each of the small holes on the casting is for? I guess, probably the chain attachment to the link pins.

    Stabilizer bar bracket question?

My stabilizer brackets are mounted with the pins toward the rear of the bracket / tractor and the flanges facing inward. I just purchased a set of stabilizer bars that will not fit (to long), they look like they may fit if the stabilizer brackets are turned around with the pins located toward...

Need pictures of late model UTS hydraulic tubeline

I currently have two tubeline assemlies. One assembly is for an earlier 'U' with the gearcase flange for mounting the PTO shifter lever which does not fit my later 1953 'UTS' which has the PTO shifter incorporated in the PTO housing, thus no cast flange on the gearcase. My other assembly is...

drilling hole in thermostat in my u

I just had my 1953 UTS 170 degree thermostat out to check to see if it was operating properly. It started opening at 165 degrees and was completely open at 180 degrees. I noted, but did not measure the bleed hole which I think would have been about 1/16" dia located near the edge of the main...

Need pictures of late model UTS hydraulic tubeline

Does someone have a late model UTS (1953 or later) with the factory installed hydraulics that could provide me with pictures of the 'correct' hydraulic tubeline details, especially the rear tubeline / block assembly mounted on the PTO mounting bolt (new style GB transmission case without the PTO...
