    trouble logging on site

I"m able to log on to the site, but the discussion section (lifeblood!) simply times out. ARRRGGGHHH!

    Reusing a head gasket.

I'm not familiar with the engine, but if it's gas you might try that spray on copper from NAPA. Let it dry tacky, reinstall and torque.. then cross your fingers (been there, done that). I wouldn't try it with a diesel though..higher compression might blow a less than perfect gasket. Anyone else...

    No Spark

Glad you found it Mike....nothing like the sound of an engine coming back to life!

    Merry Christmas from Little Alice!

did you talk your better half into that?? I've been trying to convince my wife that it's a good idea for the last two Christmas's! Sure looks nice...right at home.

    Noise in Tourque tub

A worn or dragging brake band might be a possiblity. The scraping or grinding noise would be hard to locate as it travels through the whole tractor, and it would be any time you're moving.

    Gauge rebuild question

If nothing else most welding shops have access to a gauge/regulator rebuilding service. They should be able to help.

Those crazy coots are going to Build a B from parts

I've been watching the progress of this project and frankly, I'm impressed. I watched a team of six men assemble a complete model T Ford at a car show some years ago.....in fifteen minutes flat! Cranked 'er up and drove it off in triumph.

B trans oil type and capacity

The original manual called for 20 wt. oil I believe, however I was told to use the Hytrans oil from Walmart. Being modern it has superior lube characteristics and works well in the hydraulic system. It comes in five gallon pails and I just filled mine to the bottom of the fill port on the...

steering repair on a model B

That's great Rick! Most of the steering boxes on these old tractors are pretty worn after so much use...sounds like you really lucked out. Hopefully the rest of the tractor is just as nice.

HOW TO PUT A STARTER ON A MODEL B ALLIS CHALMERS

The starter/generator units will crank over a good sized Briggs (or similar) engine, but will it produce enough torque for a four cylinder B? I'd get some good info from the factory first. The regular starter has the leverage advantage by engaging the outside of the flywheel, while the...

    International M running direction.

First of all, congratulations on having one of the best engines designed...I've got two of 'em! The flywheels spin toward the REAR of the engine. There should be a grease cup on the end of the crankshaft for lubing the connecting rod. Make sure you give it a couple of twirls before starting...

    Brakes

If you're just trying to clean all the junk out of the cavity where the shoes are, you could try it the hard way...like I did. Compressed air, coat hangers, etc. Takes a while and makes a mess but it does work.

    3 big motors.

Yes, they are! Do a google search for "Harrys's Old Engines" and find the discussion forum on old oil field engines...a wealth of info. Caution: these things are definately NOT pinweights. There's a real art to transporting them while preventing damage or injury, but it CAN be done! Access to...

    Allis Chalmers B no spark

Since you said a coil, I'll assume it's a distributor. First of all these tractors were 6 volt positive ground originally. Do you know for sure that it was changed to negative ground and it has a 12 volt coil? If so, try this...disconnect the wire to the + side of the coil. Run a temporary...
