I am replacing the brakes on the above tractor.
Can someone tell me how to clean out the housing where the drum is located. Thank you..........
 
Just a few more bolts to remove. (:^D

If you're just trying to clean all the junk out of the cavity where the shoes are, you could try it the hard way...like I did. Compressed air, coat hangers, etc. Takes a while and makes a mess but it does work.
 
If it isn't packed full and you can find a hunk of heavy steel banding like is used to band machinery to a skid, you can make a scraper and scrape from both sides of the drum to dig the
crud loose. If you have a good shop vac you can get it good enough to get the new bands back in most of the time.
I have not had all of them as bad as the one in the picture.
 
I use air then water hose you might have to check your oils after but you will be amazed at the crap that comes out. If it's not to much once you remove old bands you can dig it out with a bent tire spoon. ant to bad a job. DS
 
I used my leaf blower to get out the crud after I broke it loose. Went everywhere, but then I used the leaf blower to clean out the shop.
