Can you ID this iron hanger?

I have affixed this iron piece to a post in our kitchen to photograph it.(The screw driver is used instead of a nail). It is about 8" long and appears to be hand wrought. I think it is some sort of specialty hanger with a hole to hang it somewhere. Any ideas? Thanks.

    What is this?

I have wondered for a long time what this is. I found it in a dump area on an old farm. It is about 3' wide and 2' high made of sturdy metal about 1/4" thick. It is one of a number of similar pieces, some smaller, some slightly larger. The top loop swivels. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

Distributor adjustment on TO-20 w Petronix

The spinning Bendix on the starter which did not engage the flywheel has been fixed. I removed the starter, turned the Bendix and heard a little 'click". Then I tested the starter with jumper cables from the 6 volt TO-20 battery. All appeared normal. The ring gear on the flywheel seemed in the...

    Starter problem

My TO-20 has been starting and running without any problems this summer and fall. Until......I tried to start it to give my grandson a ride and the starter just spun. Battery seemed strong, but no cranking occurred. I am not a great mechanic, but I'm thinking that the Bendix did not extend and...

    what is this?

Thanks for your suggestion. I looked at other older landsides on the Web. Almost all of them have holes for bolting on the the plow.

    what is this?

I dug up this metal part the other day, not more than a foot deep in our yard, about 100 feet from the oldest barn. We live on a farm in Virginia, which has old barns, probably Civil War era, was and is a working farm. The part is heavy, probably cast iron, with a date (1886) and a number (35)...

    slow cranking

I am having the same problem. Hope to have solved it tomorrow when I install new spark plugs and try to start with the battery fully charged. I discovered that a 6 volt battery needs to read 6.30 or so on the multimeter for it to be 100% charged. Less than that results in the % of charge...

    cranking labored

With a TO 20 I am still searching for cause of weak cranking. Electrical system parts are all new: battery, ammeter, starter switch, starter. Wiring checks out. Tractor had always run well until recently. I had someone who helped me get the tractor started yesterday, sounded terrible with...

replacing a starter switch on a TO 20

I think you have solved my problem, at least, on paper. I have been careful to secure the starter rod and will reconnect the base with the clevis pin and cotter back in place. I had done some research and saw on some very old posts(on this site) that the Sparex part would work in both Ferguson...

replacing a starter switch on a TO 20

I have ordered a new starter switch for my TO-20 Ferguson, Sparex part #S42538, which I read should be the correct replacement. (This switch is a gear-shifter activated.) In removing the old and probably original starter switch, I see that the connecting brackets, where the clevis pin connects...

    Spark at + battery terminal

Thanks for your suggestions. I still get a BIG spark after one by one, disconnecting the starter, the generator, the voltage regulator. I recleaned and shined up the battery ground contacts. Still spark at + terminal when I try to connect battery cable. One thought is the starter switch...

    Spark at + battery terminal

I have a TO 20 with starting woes. It is a + ground 6 volt tractor. I had a neighbor help me diagnose a no-crankinng problem accompanied by a total discharge of a new battery. Clearly there is a short somewhere. He diagnosed the starter as the problem, advised me to recharge the battery and...

    Generator for TO20

Still trying to assess the output of my rebuilt generator for my 6 volt + ground TO20. By several metrics the generator is not putting enough voltage to recharge the battery. Since the battery is brand new, I am wondering if the voltage regulator is preventing any voltage across the contacts...

    Is my charging system working?

Steve--Very thorough and helpful answer. I have polarized the generator and the ammeter needle did deflect today at starting. Nothing in the negative side. I will test with multimeter tomorrow. I don't have any lights or accessories on this old TO-20 to test in that way. Thanks for your help.
