    Massey 300

Believe it or not 750s originally had the 350 gas option too.

    Massey 300

I've seen a round back 105 with a chevy 327 or 350 grafted in it. Makes sense because the factory original 248 was junk

Chevy and the JD 4400 gasser to start with used the 292 chevy

    1665 CASE COMBINE

JD had variable speed reel/pickup belt that you could adjust from the operators station as an option going all the way back to 1960. IH had the same option on the 403/503 going back to 1963/64 at least. And to top that off our MF 510 which we bought in 1964 also had the same option. I've read...

    1665 CASE COMBINE

Hate to bust your bubble but JD and IH had variable speed belt/reel from the Ops seat before Case and IH's was by hydraulic motor like modern headers.

    Self propelled in the 60’s?

There was never a CIII. The G replaced the C as the biggest combine in the lineup and it was biggest combine Gleaner made with a closed concave. Only other combine with a C prefix was the C62 built in the 90s. They made L3 and M3s right along the N series in the 80s and there was a very small...

Serial number year breaks for old JD combines . 55,95 and 105 ?

Not factory but I could see why someone would do that. I’ve seen several round back 105s with Chevy 350s conversions. No doubt a much better engine then the 248 screamer

Serial number year breaks for old JD combines . 55,95 and 105 ?

Not true. The 217 gas was used in the 55 and 95 from 58’ to 67’. The 248 diesel was used in the 55/95 those same years. The 248 gas was used in the 105 from 61’ to 65’.

    Self propelled in the 60’s?

They were big. They were but they came out in the tail end 60s like 1968. It was only a year later JD had the 7700 and Oliver had the 5555 which was another giant combine nobody talks about.

    Self propelled in the 60’s?

The biggest combine of most of the 60s was the Case 1660. JD wasn't too far behind with the 105 and then of course the MF 510.

    C Gleaner combine?

Header sizes don't necessarily dictate the size of a combine. We ran a 24ft header on our MF760 because that was the biggest header MF offered at the time. My uncle also ran a 24ft header on his JD 7700 because that was the biggest header JD offered at the time. Anybody that knows their...

mistake in you tube video on "20 Combines etc."

1947 is the formal introduction recongized by JD but they did have a few of them out in the fields in the summer of 1946. I know a guy who has on of the first 55s built. Duel wheels, transmission driven reel, clutch for the unloading auger. I think those features were carried through 47' to 48'.

    C Gleaner combine?

The 95 to C would be correct. Long ago neighbor of mine had a couple of C2 Gleaners and then traded one off for a JD 7700. Ran them two until they sold out. Both were wore out. Gleaner A/AII would be comparable to the 55. Gleaner didn't have a competitor to the 105 until the G.

    JD A and B heads????

I've never been inside a B or A engine so I am just going off of what I read. I know the cyclonic heads used that "eyebrow" around the intake to swirl the incoming fuel/air which according to my sources was introduced in 47" on the new A and Bs. What is the difference between that head and the...

    JD A and B heads????

Just curious on the A and B, what is the difference between a the normal head and the "ramp" head that came out in the early 40s. And then what is the difference between the "ramp" head and then the "cyclonic" head that came out on the new A/B series in the late 40s.
