C Gleaner combine?

I think that IH 403 and JD 95 were similar in size to the CH gleaner. I forget the number but I think that Harris 92 or 98 would have been close also. Have a 95, 403 and CH that are used at our local threshing bee and they are all similar and all from 1964-65. Mike

Thanks much for the info! At first I was thinking like maybe comparable to a JD 55, but I think a little bigger is correct as the other models you mentioned were popular in that time frame too.

What IH or JDeere would a C Gleaner compare in size to? Neighbors had a C years ago, so now I am curious to actual size.

The 95 to C would be correct. Long ago neighbor of mine had a couple of C2 Gleaners and then traded one off for a JD 7700. Ran them two until they sold out. Both were wore out. Gleaner A/AII would be comparable to the 55. Gleaner didn't have a competitor to the 105 until the G.

In my area people that had C gleaners and 105 John deeres ran 6 row narrow or 4 row wide heads, so I think the 105 would compare. I had a 510 Massey and ran a 6 row narrow head on it for several years.

Header sizes don't necessarily dictate the size of a combine. We ran a 24ft header on our MF760 because that was the biggest header MF offered at the time. My uncle also ran a 24ft header on his JD 7700 because that was the biggest header JD offered at the time. Anybody that knows their combines will know that a 760 will run a 7700 into the ground because it's a much bigger combine. If you get a tape and start measuring C series have 40" cylinders, 105s have 50", and even 510s have a 45" cylinder. We also had 510s before the 760 and I still have one today in my collection. The C series doesn't compare to a 510.
