    12v conversion

It was actually less expensive to convert to 12v then to buy a new 6v gen.

    water in oil

The lube oil in the trans, rearend of my utility 350 is grayish yellow. Where could the water be coming from. Radiator level is full, crank case oil is black. The yellowish color makes me think there is antifreeze in it. Is there anywhere where they share a common seal? Thanks.

    12 volt coil conversion

Front mount distributor. The 12v coil is 2.7 ohms. The extra resistor that came with the kit is 3.1 ohms. 14.5 divided by 5.8 ohms is 2.5 amps. Too low?

    12 volt coil conversion

I just installed a 12v system, the 12v coil measures 2.7 ohms. Do I need the extra resistor ?

Does it come in a kit and about what's the cost?

    12v conversion

I think you're right, the old one I took off must have been an off shore one and the rotor center tip and the carbon button must have ground the metal contact off.

Also the distributor shaft was tight.

    12v conversion

One thing the cap had no gasket under it. Another was one of the clips holding the cap on had been brazed and didn't hold the cap down tight enough on one side which might have caused it to break. Also the nut holding the points tight at the correct clearence was loose. Timing measurement was ok.

    12v conversion

I just finished the 12v conversion on my 8n. At first it didn't run very good, missed and back fired. Took off the distributor cap (front mount)and found the rotor contact had broken off. Ordered new one. Purrs like a kitten now.
