    Old Sherman 54B335 PTO pump.

I have this old Sherman 54B335 PTO pump sitting on a shelf that was used on an old 54B backhoe that I have sitting out in the backwoods. Trying to figure out if I could repurpose the PTO pump to run an old 3pt log splitter. I’ve got some literature that tells me it runs at about 1200 PSI and I...

Following thread has a nice write up about a 9N starter switch and the mechanics around it. http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewtopic.php?t=954029

    '49 9N not starting

I take it you mean the rod at the bottom of this button. If so that Rod disables you from starting the tractor When the tranny is in gear. Needs to be in neutral. If you look at the side of that button there’s a small screw. A wire needs to be attached to that screw and back to you solenoid...

    '49 9N not starting

Do you mean a 39 9N or a 49 8N? Explain starter button is a rod not wires? Jumping a solenoid and it keeps running would lend me to think you are pretty much narrowed down to a dirty connection bad solenoid or whatever the rod thingy is.

From a far you can quickly look the rear rims. Different on an 8N provided its not a half breed.

    Removing/Replacing Hood on 2N

Some years ago I purchased one of those cheap harbor freight electric hoists that you attach on the beams of your barn or shed. I purchased the 400 single line or 800 double line pull model and attached it to the tractor shed way out back in the woods. I use a small 12 V inverter to power it...

    45 2N 3 Point lift capacity

I can’t speak for A 2N but my 8N lifts 800 pounds and doesn’t look back. I built an 800 pound ballast using ten 80 pound sacks of premixed concrete when using my front loader. Stupidly a few years ago I found a very large overhanging rock back in the woods and wanted to know that if I...

The gates of heaven opened and called up another of the great ones. I am glad I was able to get to know Dell on this site if only for a short time. My condolences to you and your family.

Refurbishing '49 distributor - new rear bushing loose

Very difficult to type on these phones these days. What I wanted to write is that I don’t think that the retainer compound would help you any because your bushing is very loose.

Refurbishing '49 distributor - new rear bushing loose

Can’t vouch for retainer compound. Never used it. But would think it would help you if you’re pushing is really is. The compound made glue it in but don’t know if it will keep it perfectly centered DOS illuminating any points gap or timing issues later on. I do remember my bushings setting...

Refurbishing '49 distributor - new rear bushing loose

You actually get what you pay for or how fast of a delivery you’re willing to wait for. EBay is all about doing your research first. Know what you’re buying, look at the vendor that you’re buying from, compare prices and then make a decision. Obviously I wouldn’t buy bushings from a vendor...

    8n advice

My moneys on the head gasket And hopefully not a cracked head. In either case just pop her head off and have a looksee. If I remember correctly a few of the studs that hold the head down sit in the water jacket of the engine block. Remember taking mine out cleaning them up and putting...
