    I am going to change the gear oil in my 1952 mh55. So i believe the gear oil is housed in the pto box, transmission and rear end. Can I drain all the oil through the plug on bottom of the rear end? Then can I refill it all from the top of pto box until in runs out fill hole on side of trans...

    Thanks for the reply, I ended oiling it last night haha. Through my research I read that its main purpose is to filter dust and that it does a good job dry it will do an even better job oiled. Im sure it wont hurt anything being oiled now but probably would have been just fine without haha

    I rebuilt the zenith carb on my 55 last night. I put in a new felt throttle shaft seal. I installed it dry, as the manual does not mention any oil or grease. How do you guys typically install the felt? It is fully assembled and on tractor however I have not run it yet and if it should be...

    Thanks! Is the top seal on filter a snug fit on center tube? Or does that spring washer seal the top of filter?

    K thanks, yes it is a bypass filter so that is good to know. How many hours do you guys go on an oil change? I work this tractor a fair amount.

    This is what I came up with for a washer between spring and filter. It doesnt have a seal but only has maybe .002 play on center tube so shouldnt let much of anything by. I can fairly easily push the top lid fully closed by hand so I dont think the spring has too too much pressure. What do...

    That makes perfect sense, someone butchered this likely. Does the top plate have a seal around center tube? I could probably just use a washer between top of filter and spring that fits tight around center tube.
