Starter for a John deere 1020 gas tractor

I bought a new starter for my 1020 a few years ago from this site. First one I got was bad right out of the box, but called em up and they were great to deal with and had a new one over nighted to me the next day.

    1020 Power Steering Conversion.

Damn, I am about to do this exact install on my '66 1020. I didn't know about this ball bearing being in the way. I'm just waiting on the new hydraulic oil lines and I'll have everything for the install. Post back on how you handle it. I would be very interested in a solution.

Followup: 2006 GMC 5.3 - Low Oil Press at start

Glad you were able to get this done. Parts are generally really cheap on this generation of pickup, it is the labor that will add up quickly and get you. IMO it is still way cheaper for me to repair my '03 and keep it on the road than to spend 50-60k on a newer truck. Repairs on newer ones are...

2006 GMC 5.3 Vortec - Low Oil Pressure at startup

That's not possible on these engines. The filter is vertical and sits at the bottom of the block on the rear of engine. Oil cannot drain out of these filters due to their position.

2006 GMC 5.3 Vortec - Low Oil Pressure at startup

I had this exact same issue with my '03 Silverado 1500 last year. You start the truck and the oil pressure is low around 20-25 psi with no change in RPM until the engine gets hot, then the pressure will jump up to it's normal range. This is due to the o-ring on the oil pick up tube where it...

    Harbor freight welding helmet

I have their expensive one the Vulcan Arcsafe helmet and have used the hell out of it for a couple years now. Works great IMO. It's a knockoff of a miller helmet I believe. list for $160

    2020 wiring harness

Check out Brillman.com. When doing an overhaul on my 1020 gas this past summer I bought the complete wire harness from them. It took a few weeks for them to build it, but when installing it everything fit perfect. The instructions were great and all the wire leads were labeled. I believe there...

    1020 Clutch Replacement

Just now finally got around to splitting the tractor last night. Was a bit nervous getting started, especially being the first time doing something like that. Anyways, findings and questions: I cannot tell positively if trans oil is seeping out between the two clutch shafts, but there was...

    1020 Rockshaft Hydraulic Issues

Trying to go through and get my 3pt to behave like it should and am needing some help. I am having issues with the 3pt lift being very weak not being able to lift more than a few hundred pounds, as well as it not lowering all the way. I have been going through the steps in the tech manual on...

1020 gas can't keep it running

If putting your hand in front of the carb inlet helps, that shows you have an air/fuel problem. First thing I'd do is take the carb back off and make sure all the passages are clean and float set correctly. Then reinstall and adjust the carb according to the service manual. Check and make...

    1020 Clutch Replacement

So, I'm not entirely sure it is from A&I. Normally I find the part numbers i need through Deere's parts catalog and then search it on GreenPartStore.com to get a price. I've used them a bunch in the past when I can't make it to the local dealer any time soon, they're prices are generally...

    1020 Clutch Replacement

So, looks like the PTO clutch for the gas engines AT20916 has been replaced by RE31382 and it looks like that one is listed for $600! which is nuts for a clutch disc. The drive clutch RE29882 is available and like you said is from A&I. I'm curious why there are different PTO clutch disc for Gas...

    1020 Clutch Replacement

Wouldn't the clutch alignment tool take care of aligning the two clutches and the pressure plate? At least that is the way I understood it, but like I said I've never done this. Open to all suggestions.

    1020 Clutch Replacement

I'm looking to replace the clutch in my '66 1020 Gas here pretty soon. I'm good with a wrench, but have never split a tractor before so this will be my first time. I have the shop manual, and will be looking to building me a set of splitting stands here in the next week or so. Tractor does have...
