    Need Help with my CAV IP

    Just got the IP installed after rebuild by Pumpman and everything is working great! Al said it had buildup from bad fuel and water contamination. I guess premium diesel, stabilizer and water remover are going to be incorporated going forward, in no hurry to shell out another $500.

    Ok so I tore it down to get the gunk out of it, was a sticky gooey mess - would not pump out injector ports. My question is after I removed the pump head and pump rotor and cleaned them then after I inserted the shaft, added some WD40, and spun it with my hand it would only freewheel about 1/4...

    Speaking from experience I would stay away from buying on ebay ... IP went bad while under warranty and was given option of refund or replacement ... chose replacement. Was told by seller that they decided to do a refund ... their price on the IP is now about $200 higher ... so I would guess...

    New IP and tips - Now Hard to Start My 3000

    Thanks for the Info - must have screwed something up - always started good before replacing the injector tips and pump. If as you say, white smoke means loss of compression I am wondering if maybe the tip washer is bad or out of position ( I did put in new seals) ... always puffed black smoke...

    Replaced the CAV IP and Injector tips, IP was initial problem. It starts but it takes about 2 minutes of cranking to get it going, starts puffing white smoke almost immediately. Was wondering if I should maybe change the IP timing to see if starting improves or ? Seems to run fine once...
