    Why did you replace the carb? New carbs bought on Amazon do not have a good reputation. Your description sounds like the old carb is flooding. Take it apart and check the float level. Check to make sure float is not binding. Check to make sure needle valve is functioning properly and that the...

    Unfortunately you would have to take off the hood. First see if it runs when stopping by loosening the gas cap. Some drill a small hole in the gas cap to vent the tank.

    When it dies, check for spark. Then check for fuel flow by removing bolt from bottom of carb. Also removed the gas cap and see if fuel flopw improves. There is a vent in the top of the gas tank which could be plugged

    '40 9N with Smooth rear hub

    I have a '39 with one smooth hub and one riveted one. I have left it that way for ten years. A bit of Ford history. Your tractor your call. After 27 years of collecting and working on old Fords, I tend to not over analyze or fix things that are not broken.
