1944 John Deere A steering shaft bearing and cup

Replacing both steering shaft bearings and cups on my A. The JD parts book says it should be JD7205 bearing and JD7253 cup. I pulled it apart and the cup that is pressed into the cast end cover was actually a Timken 23 cup. It should have been a Timken 24 cup (JD7253). The JD7253 cup is...

Will engine side shields on 770 fit 880?

Still putting my early 880 gas back together. Missing the sheetmetal side shields on the engine that attach to the hood. Looking for a parts tractor to get them from. Will 770 sheetmetal fit the 880? What about parts from an 88 or a Super 88 (or 77 or Super 77)? Would they fit...

Oliver 880 positive ground coil question

I put an IC14SB 12 volt coil on it. I ended up replacing the VR too. New wires, plugs, points. Cannot get spark. Coil resistance tests good. I have power to the coil. Cannot get a spark to jump at the coil or at a plug. Had no spark before I changed everything either. Running out...

Oliver 880 positive ground coil question

Putting an early 880 gas back together from a pile of parts I inherited, making progress. It is positive ground, 12v. My coil is bad. It is an Echlin IC12 which is meant for an external resistor. I cannot find an external resistor or resistive wire on the tractor though so I am puzzled...

Re: Is this a 770 based on block codes and need cylinde

Found a loaded cylinder head off a Super 88 gas off a parts tractor, casting 190302. I think I have enough parts to keep working. Thanks for the help. I am sure I will need more help down the road Bryan

Re: Is this a 770 based on block codes and need cylinder he

I found shift pattern photos on line that look like the 770 is a mirror image of the 880. Thanks for the help showing me it is an 880. Will any Super 88 gas or 880 gas cylinder head work or do I need to be looking for specific casting numbers? Thanks Bryan

Is this a 770 based on block codes and need cylinder head

Hello I am trying to get an old Oliver dad was working on when he passed, it has been sitting for years. VIN tag is gone, he put it somewhere and I cannot find it. He said it is a 770. The codes were on the engine block 190320-N 104305A 1089 Intake manifold codes: 190342...
