    JD 50 trans

    On my 50 there is a plug ,or something resembling a freeze plug, under the trans near the trans drain plug.It is forward and a little to the left(as sitting on the tractor)of the drain plug. It is shown in the service manual but not mentioned. Anyone know what it is? Thanks Jack

    Super A Belly Mount Sickle Bar Mower

    I was wondering what model number sickle mowers would fit a Super A? Particularly belly mount mowers. And are any of them pitman-less, Or the type that will mow at different angles other than straight out flat? I want to mow ditches and creeks from the top of the bank. Thanks Jack

    You can put a water pump on the 113 ci. blocks, but you won't have a thermostat. So they take longer to warm up and in the winter they might not warm up. To do a thermostat some guys have hunted around and found one that fit in the upper radiator hose some how. If you get your block cleaned...

    I"ll keep those tips in mind when I attempt this. You mentioned a bear hole on the left side, my manuals don"t show the left side of the block in detail, is there an access hole on the left side behind the flywheel? Jack

    My 50 died on me while mowing so I started with the normal stuff, check spark, check fuel, timing. Still nothing. So after dragging it into the garage I pulled the valve cover and spun the flywheel and saw no valve movement. Then I removed the access cover on top of the block and saw the cam...

    Cub PTO Pulley/Side Mower

    Most of those mowers have a 4 1/2" pulley. If you have fast hitch you need a 4" pulley to clear the hitch. The factory pulleys were secured with a pinch bolt and now cost $100 new. Some guys use a 2 piece pulley but you have to use a double groove to get it to line up. Jack

    It depends some on the grass. Iused a cub with 59" mower at uor previous house and it worked fine. That yard had clay soil so the grass was thin and slow growing. Then we moved to a place with nice topsoil and thick faster growing grass. The cub struggled so I bought a Super A with the same...

    I"m looking at a 3400 with a loader tomorrow. Has power steering, hi-lo trans.,live PTO. Just wondering if there are any characteristic problems I should look for?
