JD 50 trans

On my 50 there is a plug ,or something resembling a freeze plug, under the trans near the trans drain plug.It is forward and a little to the left(as sitting on the tractor)of the drain plug. It is shown in the service manual but not mentioned. Anyone know what it is?

I think it covers the hole in the bottom of the main case where the pto shift lever is housed.
