    Torque Pattern

I am in the process of rebuilding a 47 H Farmall. Can anyone tell me the correct torque pattern for the head bolts. The IH shop manual calls for 70 ft. lbs. but does not mention the proper sequence when tightening.

JD. I meant to post this on the JD only discussion board. I like them all, no matter the color. I have a restored H Farmall and a B JD. Wish I had more.

    Cast Wheels

I have a 1950 Model B. The cast wheels have the usual four rectangular slots. They also have four round holes cast into them. I have seen both on restored tractors. Are the wheels with both, factory or after market? What was the purpose, if any, of the round holes?

I have two VHS tapes from John Deere that demonstrates new farming equipment for 1947 and 1948. The decals on those factory films show the decals centered on the hood. The...

    John deere B

The JD operators manual calls for straight 30 weight oil. I switched from the recommended 30 weight to 10W-40 in a H Farmall once and it started smoking and using oil. Switched back to 30 and it stopped.

    B John Deere

Thanks for your reply. My tractor has square axels, no water pump and a distributor with coil. Was a distributor and coil available on the 1950 model? I am trying to determine if some one replaced the original Mag. with a distributor. Since there is not water pump, I guess that rules out 51 and...

Thanks for all of this info. I will take your advise. I believe having the proper manuals and texts to begin the restoration will prove paramount in doing things right.
