I have an original, never repainted 1950 JD B. The John Deere decals on the hood are located 3 inches from the grill end. I have two VHS tapes from John Deere that demonstrates new farming equipment for 1947 and 1948. The decals on those factory films show the decals centered on the hood. The owners manual also shows them centered. I have seen restored tractors both ways. Which is correct? Is either acceptable for show purposes?

Yours is correct. Starting in 1950 they were moved farther forward. Centered is not correct for 1950 or newer. I have the same year as you and it also had original paint and decals although neither in saveable condition. Fine little tractors!
