    Peebles Show 2022

Hi wingnuttx, all road-going agricultural vehicles are registered and issued with licence plates from new, and have 'road tax' to pay annually (not as much as for a car or truck). However, road tax for that age of vehicle is free (if older than 1982), so for old tractors it's just an...

    Peebles Show 2022

Off to the show! Peebles Agricultural Show was held in very 'un-Scottish' temperatures of 30 degrees C. Hard on livestock exhibits, but the tractors and drivers did not mind. Not a great turn-out of vintage tractors this year, though......!

    Umbrella latches

Just finished a re-furb of the 'umbrella handle latches' that MJ likes so much (!) on the MF40 loader. Needed new springs, new slotted side plates and new roll pins. The welding/reinforcing of the hooks themselves is not down to me - that work pre-dates my 30 year ownership of the loader! Next...

    Workng smarter....

Not so many years ago, I would just have slipped this 200lb strainer post (creosote soaked ex-telegraph pole) off my shoulder into the hole.... but the MF 135 takes the weight better than me nowadays! Jim

    Purchasing a diesel pickup.

Interesting! Here in the UK there is no option to buy a gas pick up - they do not exist, and would have to be imported privately. Pity, perhaps, as diesel has now hit an all time record price of 1.79 pounds per litre ($8.52 per US gallon) at my local gas station - much more expensive now than...

    MF 135 workout

The 1967 MF135 got a workout in the sunshine yesterday, stacking a delivery of hay bales for my daughter's horses.

    Welded block

Looked at a running IH404 lo-boy today and nearly made a deal on it. It had an hydraulic whine which concerned me but I finally passed on it because of a weld in the block, behind the carb, that I nearly missed seeing. So now Im second guessing and wondering if I should have made the deal...

Need help Identifying Ford Industrial Tractor

I am replacing the injectors and some old leaky houses on an old Ford Industrial Tractor (circa 1982 - based on the fuel return line configuration). Any help identifying the exact tractor make and year based on the serial numbers would be greatly appreciated. I read these off the bell frame...

    1520 problems UPDATE

So, I have been having problems with my 1520's fuel system as I have posted about a few times. Today while getting everything back together again I fired it up and it ran good for a few min then it died. I had plenty of tools nearby so I started it again and it ran for a short time and started...

    Welding cast iron.

Yes, I've enjoyed watching Abom79's videos too, especially when he is actually making stuff - less so recently when he seems to have made very little! But Cutting Edge Engineering's shop and tools, and the jobs he tackles, make Abom79's shop and tools set-up look like toytown! Jim

    Welding cast iron.

Just been watching Curtiss from Cutting Edge Engineering welding up a smashed cast iron transmission housing from a Cat grader. This technique has got to have an application in welding cracked blocks, casing etc in the Yesterdays Tractors world? Any of you folks seen this in action in any of...

    Must be Monday!

Oh, that brings back memories! A few years back, a truck delivering 15 tons of rock (for splitting into paving slabs) to my holiday home in Crete, Greece, slipped off the access track and dumped the lot on top of my rental car! That led to some interesting form filling! Turned out the truck was...

    Kubota final drive unit

Hi Guys, hope you can point me in the right direction. Got a Kubota Kx36 mini digger. Machine works great until the oil heats up, but then one final drive unit loses power, and works slow. What am I looking at? Hydraulic motor failure in that unit? Repair or replace? (replacement final drive...
