JD H hand start won't start update

I have had a very similar thing happen with my H. After a complete engine overhaul I was plowing and it acted like it was running out of gas and then sputtered and died. After much troubleshooting it ended up being i'd lost my valve clearance. A quick adjustment of all four valves (all of them...

    LA differential seals

Does anyone have any hints or suggestions how to remove and reinstall the differential seals on a LA tractor? I've got my final drive on the LH side split apart and can get at the seal to remove and reinstall, i'm just not entirely sure how to do either. The RH side will be tougher yet, as it's...

    H air cleaner leaking oil

I've had A's, B's, D's, and a smattering of other Two Putts, but recently got an H. It runs well after a serious overhaul, but lately I've had oil running down the entire body of the air cleaner but i'm not sure why it's doing this or where it's coming from exactly. It appears that it is leaking...

    Branson Enterprises

Just curious if these guys are a good outfit to deal with. Their prices on carbs and mags seem very reasonable compared to some others. Can anyone share some thoughts on Branson Enterprises? Are they good folks to deal with? Any issues? Thanks!

    Almost running D. Help!

Can you adjust the spark advance? Earlier D's had a lever next to the throttle to advance or retard the timing. If I recall, one is supposed to pull this lever most of the way back to retard the spark while starting and then advance the spark as you throttle up. Just throwing that out there...

Correct carb for '39 John Deere B?

Marvel Schebler DLTX-10 carburetors were used on the model B's up to serial number 96000. From there to 200999 the DLTX-34 was used. I'm pretty sure 75106 would be a 1939 model.

    M Generator

If I'm not mistaken, this generator should have an adjustable third brush. Pull the steel band off and locate the adjustable brush, the holder will look different than the other two and it will be moveable. Loosen the brush holder screw and push the brush towards the direction of rotation to...

    John Deere D fuel line

Would someone be willing to send me a picture of the fuel line that runs from the small gasoline tank to the three way valve on a late unstyled D? I have a 1938 model that is missing the line and I'd like to replace it, but don't know exactly how it was plumbed originally.

    John Deere A 1942 Governor

Have you checked for proper adjustment of the control rod between the governor and the carburetor? Check to make sure that when you disconnect the rod, throttle lever advanced clear forward and the butterfly disc wide open; the rod end by the carb should half a hole short. I've solved many...

John Deere 60 stuck rear wheel

I've got both wedges loose, so I can just pull the whole wheel off once I get both wedges out? That doesn't sound too bad. I have pulled the cork plug out and am soaking it in Kroil/PB. We'll see what happens, thanks for the help!

    john deere b

According to my Two Cylinder production log, the 1941 production year started in November 1940. The 1939 and 1940 B's were 4 speeds. With electric starting and lighting, they had 7" lights and a slant dash. When the six speed trannys came into production with the '41 model year, the dash had to...

John Deere 60 stuck rear wheel

I tried to adjust the rear tread today on my JD 60 and to no avail...the pinion bolt will not move, it seems to be rusted solid. I thought a little heat and Kroil would bust it loose. I broke my breaker bar trying and fear putting too much more on it, don't want to twist it off. Anyone got any...

    Plowing frozen ground

Very good, I appreciate the input! My hope is that once we get a decent freeze I can get out there and finish things off. I started last night, but it was just too wet and I stopped before I got stuck and made a huge mess.
