    Policing a farm stock class

    I found that the mph pulls are much more fair. We pull a non cut tire 3.5 and cut tire 6.5 and I am always within a foot or two and beating the strokers even pulling in the 6.5 when my tractor can only go 3.5 in the heavier classes.

    I did static time it and richend it up until I had a puff of black smoke when I snap the throttle. Timing light shows about 7 before when Idling

    Trying to get the timing perfect on my G but it?s not quite right. It runs good but it backfires once in a while when you start it after it?s already warmed up. It has a delco distributor with electronic ignition.

    flathead on a 48 G

    How much compresion do you have? I ran a flathead on my 48 with m&w pistons for years.It had about 185# and was good for a gasket every 2years.I've been told that the right fuel and timing will cure that.Bob at triple G ran that with 210# with no problems at all.We both used stock JD head gaskets.

    Heisler head guides

    I'm looking for a new set of valve guides for a late A heisler head.Didn't know if they are different from a stock set.ANY help with size or a source to get them would be great. THANK YOU !

    John Deere A Heisler valve upgrade.

    I think I ground about a 1/8 inch off the inside not bad to do.I have a spare head with the big intake and exhaust valves.Intake has been opened up to 21/4" if you're interested call 860-790-0364. SCOOTER

    Stock are JD 70 gas valves ,but a lot of guys upgrade to 2.5 which I think are 720 diesels intakes.If you are running a powerblock you have to grind the insides of the block for the intake valves to clear.MIKEnMO could help you out more with this.

    Here's a picture of my buddy running my 60 lp wich does very well at the pulls in the 8500 and 10000 lb classes.It gets a lot of 1st and 2cnds.

    Yes I have a power block for it and heisler head.I was just trying not to cut the case,but I guess you're right I probably would regret it.This is my first stroker project.

    I dont want to go to crazy with it,I just want a little more than a stock G motor in my A.I know you will probably get me to go bigger when you get my parts,but this is what I'm thinking for now.

    I want to stroke my 51 A as much as possible without cutting the case.I am hoping to go 8" and willing to go with billet rods and maybe a little smaller journal.
