Stroking JD A

JD ONLY

I want to stroke my 51 A as much as possible without cutting the case.I am hoping to go 8" and willing to go with billet rods and maybe a little smaller journal.

To each his own, but please tell me why you would take the time to pull the crank, send it out, wait for it to get back, and then not spend an extra couple hours putting it in by getting into the trans case? It's not like changing tires, it's a major ordeal to pull the crank out.

I dont want to go to crazy with it,I just want a little more than a stock G motor in my A.I know you will probably get me to go bigger when you get my parts, but this is what I'm thinking for now.

i agree if ur going to go threw all the trouble why not go a little bigger and be done with it. i would go atleast 9 inch or bigger and be done with it.

go right to 9" you wont regret it and they live forever. it isnt any cheaper to do an 8 vs a 9, do you have a power block?

Yes I have a power block for it and heisler head.I was just trying not to cut the case, but I guess you're right I probably would regret it.This is my first stroker project.

If your only wanting 70 or so horse don't go to 9 inches. It will not last anywhere near as long as the 8 will. 6.125 by 8 is 471 cubes will easily make 75 hp and will last a long time, without going through the case. My family and I have built over ten A's still running today from 45 hp to 105. Give me a call I can hook you up with pistons rods and a good crank. 9892775366
We have an extra 7.5 A crank we might be willing to sell. With what you have that would make a great antiquer
