    New Shop Build

I like your layout to see what fits where. I would change the bench in the garage area to be in front of the truck, you may have already thought of that. My shop is 24 ft just like yours but I added a overhead door both front and back. I thought my LWB truck would fit in that space just fine...

    Simpson analog multi meters?

I used a Simpson 260 back in the day, worked for Texas Instrument, now I aquired a Simpson 355 from a deceased friend but it doesn't work. I've been out of the electronic game for so long that I'm lost in trying to fix it. Anyone know of a repair service or anyone on here want to take a shot at...

    Troy Built Horse Question...

My Horse is from the early 70's and had the Tecumseh engine with 2 belt drive. It is a 2 speed model, I know they later went to the 4 speed but have never seen one so can't talk about the belt arrangement. We were told that the belts were matched sets by the manufacture. I beleive that the rod...

    Won't atart

I did check the voltage across the posts and the cable ends, both would give me 12+volts. Must have been just enough corrosion to drop voltage under the load of the starter.

    Won't atart

Well I hate to admit it but it was the battery cables, how many times have I read on here to check the cables. Guess it is just my nature to suspect the worst, most troublesome, time consuming fix to a problem. Thanks to all who responded Russs

    Won't atart

The 2v reading was with the ignition on at the cable ends, other wise it reads 12+v.

    Won't atart

Thanks for your reply. Think I will pull the starter to test the switch as a last resort. I've been under my other 60 with a starter problem too many times. Shouldn't l be able to measure from the bat cable end to ground to check the mechanical sarter switch?

    Won't atart

JD 60 from 1953. I was driving across some rough ground and turned it off, unloaded the brush from the trailer and now it won't even turn over. What I've done so far is checked battery voltage which is a strong 12v. Checked for a good ground. When measuring the voltage as soon as I turn the...

    B brake latch issue

Might try drilling a hole in the latch near the end and attaching a string that is long enough to not interfere with getting on or off the tractor.

    1956 JD 60 v belt update

Update from a couple of weeks ago about getting a belt of the proper length. Ordered A4897R from the dealer and it fits, not a lot of slack to tension it but at least it will go around all three pulleys. Summary is if you order an after market belt that they say is equivalent to the A4897R you...

    JD 60 v belt

I've been out to the barn this morning checking things out. What I found so far is the pre serial number break pulleys are all half inch width. Verified this on my oldest tractor. The pulleys on the post serial number break use a 3/8 width pulley, verified on my later tractor. Pulley...

    JD 60 v belt

I am aware of the serial number break for the different lengths. I have a 60 from the older serial numbers and this one with PS from the later numbers. Best I can figure there is difference in pulley sizes somewhere causing the need for a longer belt than called out on this tractor.

    JD 60 v belt

Tried the string trick yesterday and came up with a measurement less than the given length for the correct belt. Going to try that again. Best I can figure is with the serial number break pulley dimensions changed requiring a different belt size. I also have a 1953 60 so I will try checking...

    JD 60 v belt

Working on my 1956 JD60 and am trying to find the correct belt length. Parts book lists 2 different numbers, the longest says it is 46.27 Tryed that and I don't have enough movement on the generator to secure it to the strap. The tractor does have factory PS. Seems like some time ago this was...
