    6V Generator Rebuild

Not too hard to replace the bearing and the bushing. Then it's just brushes. That's about all you can do. Like LB said, if the wires/coils are good then it should serve.

    hydraulic pump priming

Jack up the rear end and run it for 20 minutes---while up, move the lift up and down until it smooths out.

641 Power Steering Eaton Pump Pressure Port

I never had that L-fitting off---the one that goes into the pump. The end that attaches to the tube is just like the end in your pictures, an inverted flare. There's no bolt or rubber rings on mine. Can you just remove the extension on your fitting? It looks like there are two pieces...

641 Power Steering Eaton Pump Pressure Port

Here's a photo. It looks like you need a shorter elbow (the red painted one in your photo is too long. Also, the brake line is more like 51" and then you can cut it to length---I got the line and the fitting at Napa and the tools at Harbor Freight.

641 Power Steering Eaton Pump Pressure Port

I recently replaced that line and had similar problems. It's an inverted flare fitting. You can buy the fitting and a long 5/8 brake line---cut off one end of brake line and add the inverted flare fitting. You then need to flare the end of the line you cut---that's done with a special tool...

    Ford 4000 Select-O-Speed Maintenance

The driveline disengage lever is not really a lever---more like a Zee-shaped metal strap that is held on by a nut. Take the nut off and turn the strap over and then try to move it a small amount clockwise and see if that works. There are some others here who can help you with the SOS---I...

    861 Power Steering

If my memory serves---the hose in your picture is connected to the pressure side and the return hose is missing. Will double check tomorrow when it's light out.

Ford 841-d or new lawn ornament???

control valve is attached to the steering box. The tubes from the cylinders and the pump all run to it---down under the dash. If it starts leaking hydro fluid low, or high at the wheel, along the steering column you have a busted seal...

Ford 841-d or new lawn ornament???

Often, with a long inactive PS system, when you get it working again the seals in the control valve will fail... Count on replacing them and reconditioning the shaft they move against----or you might get lucky.

Okay---thanks for that information. The wrapped coils were not touched, just the solid metal plates (iron pole pieces?)...

    6v generator rebuild

Are the field coils attached to the inside of the case? If so they were rubbed a bit by the part shown in the picture (the Armature?) No serious damage to either surface---just the painted-on glaze being worn off.
