    Years ago we had a 190XT that the steering was lumpy, it was a Charlynn system. In the winter, it was always a problem to steer until you worked the steering wheel a bit to get the oil moving, then finally it'd work okay, stiff, but okay later on the hydraulics were weak, and the valve pack...

    550 Alternator mounted

    yeppers. little projects are gifts that keep giving. but she'll start so much better with a fully charged battery! spins mine right up now. with the alternator, and electronic ignition.

    touchy to get just right. I worked and worked to get mine to stop, after putting a new clutch pack and seals. There is also an adjustment on the linkage itself. and after many hours of bush hogging, it started again. Issue is you don't know if "free wheeling" or hard engaged. and free...

    Does it have a Saginaw Steering Gear on it, or is it a Char-Lynn valve hydraulic system?

    550 Oliver question

    my 550 center pivot kept backing out into the lower pulley. I ended up putting a fender washer under the zirk grease fitting, to keep if from backing out. What would cause it to back out? was a retaining ring or bolt missing?
