    Exhaust manifold stud problem

My 1941 9N (no trailer queen) that I have had for over 20 years. Prior to my ownership someone broke the rear exhaust manifold stud well inside the block. In replacing the exhaust gasket I find that the stud hole has eroded into the water jacket and the intake for #3 & 4 cylinders. It appears...

Thank you, Sean, for the complete response. That gets me headed in the proper direction. Jim

    2000 thermostat

Is it the 2000 thermostat the same for both the 3 and 4 cylinders?? Need to replace one on my '62 4-banger. Appears current thermos is stuck open since water temp tops out at 130 degrees. THANKS

    Oil Filter

PUROLATOR 120701 is one choice. I had to special order from an auto parts store. Went ahead and got 2 while I was at it just to have a spare on hand. You might be able to cross reference to another brand.

    9N Exhaust

The stud is broken off at a point about 1/2" inside the block surface. A previous owner just used a bolt to attach the manifold. Does this alter the approach to removal??

    9N Exhaust

After 20 years my 1941 9N finally started leaking around the #4 cylinder. Block is pitted (probably prior to my ownership) and manifold is also pitted. New manifold is on order. Will follow Bruce(VA)'s tip #53 for the block pitting. Again, prior to me the stud by #4 is broken with about 1/2...

    Water pump checkup on 8N

Is there a way to check the water pump on my 1950 8N 12 volt side mount while it is still on the tractor? I have pulled the radiator and am replacing the radiator, upper & lower hoses, filler cap and thermostat, but I would like to be sure the water pump is working properly WITHOUT pulling it...

    Also Can't Find 61 H/T video....

There was a video on the 'net, a few years back, of a 61 harvester-thresher. I believe it was being operated somewhere in the central states (MO?). I'm fairly certain it wasn't on ewetube, at least I'm not having luck finding it there. Anyone remember this video & know if it can still be found...

Check out Red Rock Manufacturing at redrockmfg.com I think they have an item that does what Zane's "THANG" does.

    Starter issue

Thank you. That's the type of solution I was hoping for.

    Starter issue

'41 9N - Starter button and the starter push rod do not push the starter switch enough to close the circuit. Contemplating removing the upper steering gear housing to get into the mechanism. Any thoughts or caveats?? Starter switch is new and works fine off the tractor.

    12V coil & external resistor

'41 9N Converting to 12V neg ground with electronic ignition. The 12 volt round coil that came with the ignition kit has internal resistance of 3.5 ohms (measured on my cheap volt meter). Do I need to include the supplied external resistor (3.8 ohms) in line with the coil? Guessing...

    12V Conversion Electronic Ignition

'41 9N Disclaimer: Not an elect. engineer, did not portray one on TV and did not stay in Holiday Inn Express last night. Converting to 12V and going to electronic ignition. Q1: Assume alternator is internally voltage regulated, therefore do I bypass the original "cutout"?? Q2: With...
