JD 4010 Injector pump and subsequent/compounding issues

Well, one month later, I finally got the right parts in the same place at the same time and it's a running tractor! Third time was the charm with a 12V starter, although I had to rotate the head to tuck the solenoid behind the manifold which gave me only two available mounting bolts. That...

JD 4010 Injector pump and subsequent/compounding issues

Thanks! Where do I find one of these? I looked in the store here and they don't have a hydraulics section for the 4010. I've searched for "Hydraulic pump cut off" with no luck online as well. Is there a specific name for it? Jay

JD 4010 Injector pump and subsequent/compounding issues

Well, DUH! Now I feel less intelligent than I did 30 minutes ago... That's why I come to y'all! I was 75% towards having it understood. Thanks for the extra 25% :D

JD 4010 Injector pump and subsequent/compounding issues

I did get all of the shaft alignments correct. However, I believe that the injection pump turns once for every two turns of the engine. I could be wrong, though.

JD 4010 Injector pump and subsequent/compounding issues

'Cause I'm lazy  The tractor has a cab on it which makes getting the hood off a pain. I was thinking the valves could use an adjustment as well so I may just have to bite the bullet. I'll have to look more closely at the starter to see if it's 12 or 20. It spins like a banshee on 12V...

JD 4010 Injector pump and subsequent/compounding issues

My father-in-law purchased a 4010 last year from a friend's estate and handed it over to me for keeping up. Apparently, this tractor always needed a shot of ether to start when cold, but always fired right up after warming up. This spring, it would start and then die out after 15-30 seconds...

    JD 2010 12V starter issues

Well, Now I just feel stupid. One typo at the beginning of the thread and I had you guys trying to help me with the wrong tractor... My tractor is a[b:e5140b1122] 4010[/b:e5140b1122], 1963. I apologize for leading you down the wrong path. Explains the confusion, though... J-

    JD 2010 12V starter issues

Well, I'm going to need more information: Ordered a "4010 Starter" like the one you showed. Here it is next to the starter that was in the tractor: [/URL] The bolts line up, but the bendix gear is too small and it is significantly undersized. I'm also pretty sure that this tractor was...

    JD 2010 12V starter issues

Oops, wrong image, that's the one I was looking at: The starter I have is like this: The solenoid is bolted to the starter housing. There is also a smaller, box solenoid wired in series between the starter switch and the starter solenoid.

    JD 2010 12V starter issues

I'm at work but the starter looks exactly like this one:

    JD 2010 12V starter issues

No, the solenoid has a cylinder at the end that slides into a housing on the starter.

    JD 2010 12V starter issues

Thank You! Finally got back to the tractor and it is the "big" solenoid on top of the starter that has failed. As I'm searching online, I'm not seeing 12V versions of that solenoid (Cup on the back with the little button inside). Can I run a 24V solenoid with the current setup? Would the...

    JD 2010 12V starter issues

I purchased a '62 2010 Diesel last summer at an auction from a family friend's estate. Struggled with starting over the winter for plowing. The other day, I went to start it and it churned for a little bit and then completely stopped. No click, no hum, no nothing. There are two starter...

    '62 4010 Diesel 3-point lift control stuck

Perfect! Exactly what I needed to know. Thank You. We have more snow on the way, so I'm hoping that I can get enough motion with penetrating oil to make it through the few days it will take to get a new cable shipped. :D

    '62 4010 Diesel 3-point lift control stuck

Was out plowing snow with the, new to me, 4010 using a back blade and noticed the lift control getting stiff. After about 20 minutes, it completely "froze up" and no amount of tugging or pushing will move the control arm. This is the fourth or fifth time I've used it this winter and haven't had...
