    1466

Sorry fellows, it is a 1486, went to look at it today. Got more info, Case/IH mechanic was out to look at it last year. The floor plate of the cab is loose and I had it out, The seat is all loose but still fastened to an inch thick cover whose bolts have been removed, but I can't see anything...

    1466

Neighbor's 1466 has been sitting in the field for over a year. Transmission is locked up. They say that when taken out of "park", the park did not release. When placed in gear and attempted to move, the tranny locked up. They also stated that the only way to release irt was to break the...

    WD Foot Clutch

Prior to not using this WD for a year the operation of the foot clutch was normal. Now, I must start the WD with my foot on the clutch and the tranny in gear. I can shift if done quickly but any delay in neutral will cause the transmission gears to spin and prevent shifting. I blocked the...

    Hydraulic or gear oil

My cub lives indoors. It doesn't like unleaded gas. Unless I doctor the gas with atf, sea foam, marvel mo, or lead substitute, the valves will stick open. Even the JD B enjoys some kerosene with its gas.

    Hydraulic or gear oil

My opinion would be to stay with the 90W. I got a IHC Cub wherein the prior owner had filled with Hy-tran. The Hy-tran ran out of every seal like a small flood.

    farmall H pto

My H s/n FBH93708 would be of the second series and had the flat cover and a 1 1/8 spline. After using those sloppy spline adaptors for a while, I put the shaft in the lathe, turned off the splines and cut a left hand thread. I cut off the internal spline portion of the adaptor and internally...

    h shifter?

This pin is held in place on each side by a frost plug so just trying to drive out what looks like a pin will be futile. Poke a hole through the center of one frost plug and drive out the pin and the other plug.

    dowels in 300U steering

Standard dowel pins are case hardened to at least 50+ Rockwell C and are a plus .0002 over nominal diameter. Any tool and die shop will have a complete selection from 1/8 to 5/8 inch diameter. McMaster-Carr has a complete inventory, subject to minimum package quantities:1/4 x 3/4 are $8.50 for...

    Farmall 560 no hydraulic pressure

The neighbor's kid was working in the woods and somehow broke the power steering line coming out of the pump cover. His 560, not mine!! He continued using the tractor despite the oil loss. Now with the PS hydraulic line repaired and the oil replaced, the power steering works fine, however...

    560 Power Steering Update

Great post Hal,...a while ago I stopped at JD for green parts and when I said JD "B", the kid behind the counter asked me if it was a two cylinder.......ha ha. During WW2 my dad couldn't get enough H & M's but had too many A, B, and C. In the southern USA the opposite situation presented...

    560 Power Steering Update

mkirsch, I wasn't complaining, merely stating a fact. My father owned an IHC dealership in Lemont, Ill in the 1940s and 1950s. I have all of his handwritten ledger books of the tractors sold, the 10-20s and 15-30s taken in trade. I grew up with the kids of these hardworking farmers. I...

    560 Power Steering Update

Yes, Armand, I got a used unit from "Peanuts", at Jakel Tractor Parts, Humbird, WI. 715-964-1702. He has acres of mostly older IHC tractors for parts. He had three of these units on the shelf, so I didn't have to go picking. He is a good guy and I am glad to provide the reference. I go there...

    560 Power Steering Update

Regarding my power steering whereby the steering wheel would self turn itself to the right lock. As suggested, I removed the end plate of the PS control body and saw only broken seal retainer pieces and only 1/2 of a seal. Hex bolts on the cover told me that somebody had been here before...
