WD Foot Clutch

Prior to not using this WD for a year the operation of the foot clutch was normal. Now, I must start the WD with my foot on the clutch and the tranny in gear. I can shift if done quickly but any delay in neutral will cause the transmission gears to spin and prevent shifting. I blocked the clutch pedal down and could easily wiggle the clutch disc through the access cover. I then wondered if the pilot bearing was dragging causing the transmission to spin. I read years worth of archieves to find that some of these don't even have a pilot bearing. I see a tag on the pressure plate saying "Independently remanufactured" but I did not count the springs. s/n WD81009 Your thoughts are appreciated.

Could well be the pilot bearing sticking or going out. If it has the true ball bearing type you might block the pedal down and put it in gear and let it run that way for a bit and that will either free up the bearing or make it go out all the way. It may just be rusty and need to be worked a bit to free it up. To bad there is no way to get in and lube it with out splitting it

Probably the BEST thing for it would be to use it for a while..
USE the foot clutch and it should polish the clutch surfaces and be back to Normal..
Very nice that you can see that the clutch has already been replaced..!!

If it has a pilot bushing instead of a bearing that could very well be the problem. I had it happen to me on a 1948 C.
