Another Ford fuel shut off valve

I see Red Rock sells an inline electric shut-off valve. It's a bit pricey, but it is an alternative to manually shutting the tank valve off and on. Just thought I'd mention it.

Another Ford fuel shut off valve

Sounds good. That sounds exactly like what I'm thinking of doing. I'm done with leaky tank valves. Going to eliminate the valve completely replacing it with a taped block and brass fitting to attach a brake line. Hope to find a good quarter-turn valve to cut in-line. Thank you for the suggestion.

Another Ford fuel shut off valve

That's what I thought about the aftermarket ones. No one seems to have luck with them. Yes, I have seen the modified solution with an in-line valve. Looks like a great alternative fix. I'm going to try to do the same thing with mine. Thank you for the reply.

Another Ford fuel shut off valve

Thank you for your Insite. Since I'm old now, and this is my personal tractor and probably the last one I'll restore, I will take your suggestion and replace the internal O-Ring and hope for the best. I appreciate your reply.

Another Ford fuel shut off valve

I have a ford 640 with a broken fuel tank shut off valve. I have purchased several in the past that leaked shortly after installing. So, I rebuilt the original. I would rebuild this original valve, but this one is broken beyond repair. Working on these old fords for many years I know there has...

Two questions. Pressure Plate bolts and Throw-out Bearing lube.

I am working on a 1955 Ford 640. For installing a new clutch, I ordered new Ford pressure plate shoulder bolt kit. They came Grade 5. Are they ok to use and what would the torque spec be? Or should they have been Grade 8. Also, I have seen some guys using some kind of lube on the input shaft...

    Noisy 134

I have actually heard of that happening. Now that you mention it, I believe my brothers Jubilee had that issue many, many years ago. I think my problem is more than that. But I'm going to order a new gasket, pull the cover like you said and check it anyway just to make sure. Thank you for the idea.

    Noisy 134

I didn't know they could actually move once the head was on. Amazing the things a learns from others.

    Noisy 134

Yes, it was noisy right from the start when I bought the tractor last summer. I did the plug wire pulling. But it didn't change anything. If you read the above reply I got from Welding man, I think I know what is going on. But thank you Fritz for the reply. I appreciate you guys helping each...

    Noisy 134

Thanks. I never thought of that. It makes complete sense. When I bought the tractor last summer the guy said the engine had been gone through several years earlier and never used. But he didn't know exactly what was all done to it because he got it from a guy who owed him money. I got it cheap...

    Noisy 134

I've got a 1955 640 with a very noisy engine. It starts great holds over 50 lbs. of oil pressure at an idle but chatters loudly. I've adjusted the valves last winter and even taken the hydraulic pump off to see if it would make any difference. Nope, still chattering. Sounds kind of low in the...

    Ford 640 Hydraulic Lift Gasket

I need to replace mine as well. Do you need to drain the hydraulic oil from that compartment before removing this cover??? Thank you for any advice.

    Sherman fitment

Will a Sherman over/under from an 8N work in a Ford 600? I think the splines are the same. But just need to know before purchasing. Thank you.

    Ford 960

Yes, I took the gasket out and sealed it with RTV to eliminate the backlash. But still noisy, so I'll try adding gaskets. It sounds like it worked for Tom. Thank you. I appreciate your reply.
