Yeah you got a good deal if it runs OK and is not going to be a money pit later on.See the pictures, top one is a 440 and bottom is an early 550 with the bars grille. Later 550's had what is called the checkerboard grille.

    A truck liscence question...

Crossing the Iowa weigh scales with an ILL Farm Plate on? Get real,Iowa is one of the toughest DOT states other than Tenn. in the union. When he drives out his farms gate and unless he is on a mission that concerns his farm or it's operattion he is unlicensed in the eyes of the ILL Dot. A Milage...

    A truck liscence question...

My opinion is to talk to ILL. Secretary of State Office about the rules for a Farm Plate. I think that the rule is ,no highway travel except on buisness concerning your farm and transporting "your" and only "your" farm commoditys .Your tractors to a show are not farm commoditys. Travel to the...

    IHC trucks

K5 was what I would call a 1 1/2 ton truck although they as a rule were over loaded by most owners. They had classy styling for a truck line of that era I thought.I had a IHC pickup truck back in the day and I think it was a K2.

    Wood planer knives sharpening?

What? You're bashing me? I don;t buy your bull one minute. It's apparent you never ran a production shop, you're use of rough cut lumber is an indicator. We never used many blades on a production basis as you indicated you did.Maybe your sharpening skills are not up to it as much as you brag about.

    UB 3pt

I've heard of factory 3 pt for ub's but I have never seen one. Tractor Supply advertises that they have all the components for a 3 pt hitch.Would hydraulic supply and pressure be adequate for a UB?

    U302 running hot

Is the Radiator clean on the outside? I mean is the vanes and tubes plugged up with old oil/dirt mixture or some other blockage which is restricting air flow thru the radiator itself? You have covered about every thing but this.Hows the block and head water jackets?

    U302 running hot

Ok, Is it a gas 220 engine or a diesel 236?What's the history of the tractor? Doesnt matter I guess. This matters. A lot of U302's spent their life on the dirty end of a loader on Dairy Farms and Cattle Ranches mostly loading, what else but wet and dry manure, old hay,old straw, dirt, etc.I'll stick...

    U302 running hot

Remove the Thermostat and run as you are now and see if that is the problem. Not all new parts operate as claimed. If Radiator capacity is ok sounds like a restriction in the warm to cool water flow.

    Wood planer knives sharpening?

I don't use my Wood Master 12" Planer much any more but back when it got a lot of use I simply replaced the blades with new for the fact that most of the blade sharpening services available did not do a good job sharpening.Any more the places I would buy wood from if I had a project going sells...
