Ford 640 - bad oil leak

Sorry, my mistake. On the 800 series there is a rectangle plate, under the bell housing, maybe 4"x5" that carries the cotter key. Remove the plate and you can see up into the clutch area. Also gives you access to muck out the bottom of the bell housing. I just looked at the transmission...

Ford 640 - bad oil leak

Instead of fussing with the cotter key, just take the darn plate off. Only 4 5/16/bolts and its off.. Then you can reach up in the bell housing and feel around ,and /or stick a bore scope in and look around. If you are careful, you can do that while running. just don't let it get caught in the...

    860 valve springs

Working on an 860. New valve springs from this site. Springs have one end wound tighter. Does this end go down at head or up at the keeper end?

    860 pinion carrier gasket

There was a thin gasket, maybe .010-.015 between pinion carrier and differential case. Parts book does not show any, plus manual has no pinion setting procedure so I am thinking for oil control. Has anyone run across this before? Is this actually an acceptable way to tinker with pinion...

    860 Pinion

Thank you all for help and suggestions. Was going to check out boneyard near me and go from there. There are a pair on ebay right now from an 860. I was planning on just replacing pinion as ring gear is riveted and in great shape. Its heavy work days are done, just light duty work now. Thanks...

    860 Pinion

Then what criteria do I use to find a pinion? The parts book number or one pulled from an 860?

    Need some advice

Just out of curosity it looks like you ground the crack with a grinder which is ok to start with. You prep area with grinder but finish everywhere you are going to weld with a file. Reason is cast iron has large grains of carbon in it that "smears" when ground and contaminates the weld.Where as...

    loadstar brake parts

1976 Loadstar 1800. Where would I find brake parts? I have set of original IH manuals and there seems to be quite a few options on master cylinders. Cant really find any indentfing marks on casting. How do I tell which one I have?

I know. It had to get thru the cylinder. I just bought it last year so it was a previous owner who certaintly would have known something was up.

Thanks to all that replied. I will remove beater then decide to either fix or replace. Will also add curtain and forget about raddel shield and screens.

I dropped the chopper and pulled the shoe out. A few questions. 1. Is this what happens to the separater beater after a lifetime of beating or did something else happen here? I will remove and straighten. 2. There are no shields at end of raddle. Manual shows a couple different designs...

    Removing chopper from F

I am able to hang a chainfall above combine and catch the handles on the sides with a pair of long nylon slings. I think it best to just remove it. Makes it easier to get under to get at shoe.

    Removing chopper from F

Need to remove chopper to remove shoe. Looks to me like only three bolts on each side holding it in. One at back at top corner and two on front that holds the shields. Does that sound right?
