Remove Driveshaft Before Splitting 4WD Tractor? (1982 Ford 1900 4WD)

Hi Mark Thanks for your reply. I feel that I really need to remove the drive shaft before splitting the tractor :) . I can see no way of supporting the rear section of the tractor from underneath with the drive shaft in the way. I have removed the two bolts from the carrier bracket just...

Remove Driveshaft Before Splitting 4WD Tractor? (1982 Ford 1900 4WD)

Hi I've just picked up (another) 4WD Ford 1900, and I need to put a new clutch in it, having exhausted all efforts and ideas to free it. I emptied and cleaned my workshop carport. I made a tractor splitting dolly with stuff I had lying around. I was eager and excited to do my first tractor...

Is It Possible To Swap Draft Control For Position Control on a Ford 1900 Tractor?

Managed to unseize it. Chucked acetone and ATF fluid in the cylinders through the glow plugs and let it sit overnight, freed up the alternator and put a battery on it, clean diesel and cleaned up the exhaust manifold and she's a beauty . The clutch isn't working so I'm hoping a simple adjustment...

Is It Possible To Swap Draft Control For Position Control on a Ford 1900 Tractor?

Thanks Jim, I suspected as much. It would have been crazy from a production point of view to have them so wildly different between Draft and Position control versions. I decided to pull the glow plugs and throw some lubrication in the cylinders, and as luck would have it, I managed to get the...

Is It Possible To Swap Draft Control For Position Control on a Ford 1900 Tractor?

Hi all I now have 4 Ford 1900 tractors, having just picked up another 4WD version yesterday. So I now have 2 x 2WD and 2 x 4WD :giggle:. I purchased it (as a non-runner for $500 NZD), because it had the factory option hydraulics adapter plate, allowing for remote hydraulics. I've desperately...

    Ford 1900 Engine Swap

Thanks for your reply. I was under the impression that if water has got into one or more of the cylinders, it could be seized with rust, or possibly hydrolocked, and not through heat due to lack of oil, which I understand would likely be terminal. I am unable to turn the engine over with a...

    Ford 1900 Engine Swap

Hi Bob I'm not sure at the moment. I'm removing the exhaust this morning to see if I can see any water and I'll also remove the glow plugs and see if any water comes out when turning the engine over by hand. I'm hoping it's water ingress :) Thanks Jonathan

    Ford 1900 Engine Swap

Hi all I would welcome some advice, please. I'm in New Zealand, and I have three 1980 Ford 1900s :-). Tractor 1 - my main first and main tractor - 2WD, turf tyres, previously used as a boat tractor runs well, no issues Tractor 2 - recently purchased 2WD, agricultural tyres, runs well, PTO...
