    Late 4020 SCV

Thanks for reply, yes we originally tried doing as you suggested (mounted to tractor and tried to operate valve) but the detent piston was stuck in the bore and lever wouldn't move. We took it back off and opened it to get the detent freed. I see the break at sn 040165 but all the detent parts...

    Late 4020 SCV

We are looking to add a 2nd SCV to a 4230. We've had a valve for a long time off a late model 4020 a guy had junked, if memory serves. I'm familiar with the 4230 SCVs and I thought the one from the 4020 was the same until we got it out of storage and saw two casting lugs on top and few other...

4230 quad range stops pulling, no steering

Let me first say this is second hand information as I haven't witnessed the tractor myself. A man I help farm some has fairly early model 4230 quad range tractor. He tells me he was going down the road a week or so back in D range and when he went to shift it to high gear the tractor quit...

    4230 powershift loses hydraulics

Thank you both for the responses. I think the internal leak is probably on the right track. My dad bought this tractor about 4 or 5 years ago and we always noticed a hydraulic buzz or hum like an internal leak, but we never noticed it getting excessively hot then and couldnt tell where it was...

    4230 powershift loses hydraulics

Our 4230 powershift has been having hydraulic problems. When the tractor gets hot it loses hydraulics at any engine speed lower than about 1500. Lift, SCV, steering all gone. Revving the engine restores function somewhat. Transmission pulls fine even when it is acting up, so I think the...

    1070 broke powershift cable

Thanks. The sticking throttle was the pedal sticking after getting packed with dirt and such over the years. I mentioned it because I can see how grime could get in under the floor board and start to cause mechanisms and such to freeze up... Good advice by all. Thanks.

    1070 broke powershift cable

Thanks CaseNutty, you have helped Dad in the past too. I read through some archives last night before I posted the question and saw some talk about the cab mounts being wore out and letting the clutch pedal get out of adjustment. It wasn't related to a broken PS cable, but that thought...

    1070 broke powershift cable

Thank you Rod. You are one of the one's that Dad mentioned a lot. To be perfectly honest I haven't even looked at the parts breakdown to see if I can see how it operates but I understand what you're saying. And to go a step further, it seems like the inching pedal should not cause the cable...

    1070 broke powershift cable

Hello, I am posting this for my uncle who has been having trouble with his 1070. I want to apologize in advance since I don't know all the details about the problem myself, but maybe its common enough that some of the experts here can give their advice. Here is what my uncle told me. When...

    580-B Power Shuttle moisture

I wanted to update this post as it was started by my Dad (CNJ152) and he passed away suddenly late last year at the young age of 64. Curtis, we bypassed the oil cooler on the 580B as a way to eliminate potential water leaking into the transmission oil. After using the tractor sparingly for a...

It has been a few years, but I ordered the gaskets and parts I needed to rebuild the Eaton 10361 pump from Welters Farm Supply Verona, MO (417) 498-6496 Good folks. I seem to remember getting them from this list. http://jetstar.minneapolis-moline.com/parts.html

    4230 steering valve

I was hoping to hear from you on this Tim. You built a 4020 hydraulic pump for my uncle a month or two ago (we're in north Alabama, if you happen to remember him). I thought you might have some experience with these 30+ series steering valves, etc. What about the check valve in the metering...

    4230 steering valve

We have a late model 4230 with excessive fluid leaking through the steering valve. We had the same thing happen on a 4240 some years ago and have the valve that came off that tractor. When we inspected the old 4240 valve, the body and piston shows significant scarring on both parts. Does...
