    550 serial numbers

I am rechecking my numbers. I have recorded in my serial number book 1409758-519 45-07.65. I will have to wait to check the actual machine plate until I can get the tractor out of storage. I obviously made a mistake somewhere. Since 1964 there has been plenty of time for cobbling to have...

    550 serial numbers

My 550 serial number plate has some damage. I read the numbers 140 975-519. The damage is to the last digit. A rock or something has gouged the aluminum over the very last number. I tried to carefully straighten the aluminum enough to read the last digit. My best guess is a "9". I requested a...

    550 front crankshaft seal leak

AGCO has a update for front crankshaft seal that includes a new front cover designed for a lip type seal. I see at Korves a lip seal that does not require replacement of the front engine cover. Has any one used this seal and how did work out. Did it take care of the front seal leak?

    588 loader parts

Just an update. I have not been able to find a replacement for the cylinder bearing nuts but, we were able to weld repair the damaged portion of the bearing so they could be re-machined to retain the lip seal. The piston o-rings and back-up rings I was able to get Cat replacements using the Cat...

    588 loader parts

It does look to be easy enough to build but estimates were in the $300 to $350 range. I don't think a dealer search was done. I will check on that. Thanks for the tips.

    588 loader parts

I have been trying to locate parts for the hydraulic cylinders for a 588 loader. Some parts are available thru AGCO Parts but many are discontinued. I have been to every hydraulic store in town with no results. I am in need of the 196 631-A bearing nut and 196 630-A bearing. Does anyone have any...

    Distributor

There is a gasket between the block and the distributor. You may have to loosen the distributor by small rap with a punch and hammer on the distributor/block parting line. This joint may be painted over hard to see. You may have to separate using a small screw driver forced into the joint.

    oliver 550 draft control spring

I may not have explained my problem well enough. I had the threaded end of the spring retainer apart to break it loose and clean and lubricate the threads. Do I just screw the bolt into the clamp as far as possible?

    550 sway bars bent?

Now that the front is back on, I see the center axle pivot pin is worn enough to make it difficult to reinstall the bars. Lifting the front a bit allows the bars to rotate in place. Thank you all...

    550 sway bars bent?

actually I discovered this while removing the front frame so I could replace the front seal. So yes, I did have the front end raised. If all the pin bores are on the same plane or 90 degrees to that plane then the arms should swing right into the sockets. I will let you know what happens when I...

    550 sway bars bent?

If the front pivot pin is tight and the axle pins are tight, should the ball end swing directly into the socket?

    550 sway bars bent?

I removed the front axle sway bars from my 1964 550 140986 (The bars connected to the fixed axle with a pin and mounted about midway back to the machine frame) and there was considerable tension on both bars pushing them downward about four inches after release from the ball end. The pinned end...
