D 15 series II engine question

This morning, we got the head off. The problem is just a bent valve. The piston has a small ding, but in good shape. The serial number on the block is17850-R. Can anyone tell me the year it was cast? I am fairly certain it is a D-15 Series II engine. 160 is stamped on the block. I am...

D 15 series II engine question

I own an AC forklift with a D15 Series II (160 cu. in.) engine. The keepers on the third cylinder exhaust valve let go. We got new keepers and got the valve working again. Now the third cylinder has zero compression. We are planning on removing the head after Christmas. Does anyone have...

Dual Hub question for 30 series tractors

It appears that the 4430 series had a serial number break. The early 4430's have an 86MM axil. The later 4430"s have the 92MM axil. The 92MM have the 10-bolt dual hub. My son has the smaller axil. So far it appears all the 86MM are all 9 bolt hubs. It confused us for a while. Thank you...

Dual Hub question for 30 series tractors

My son has a 4430 and a 4630. The 4630 has a ten-bolt dual wheel hub. He would like to put the ten-bolt dual hub on the 4430. The axil on the 4430 is slightly smaller than the 4630. What to do? Is there such a thing as 10 bolt hubs for the smaller 4430 axils? Can we interchange the "wedge"...

    JD A Connecting rod spacing

Checked the shims tonight. They seemed to be in the right spot. I used the video on my phone to look at the bottom shims. I plasticgaged the left one and it is right on .003, just what the book calls for. I will do the right side tomorrow. Time to get ready for bed now. Joel

    JD A Connecting rod spacing

I can see the tops shim pack and it is ok. As you know the bottom side is harder to "look" at. I will try to use my phone camera to get a better look at the bottom side shim pack. When I grab the connecting rod of the right side and move it side to side, it has some movement. The left side...

    JD A Connecting rod spacing

Thanks for the information. I can see the top shim pack and it is ok. I could have a problem with the bottom side shim pack. Just curious. If you grab the connecting rod and move it side to side, how free should it be? The right side has some movement. The left side is snug. The old...

    720 diesel oil pressure issue

I had a similar problem. Are you using oil? In my case the seal on the right side (clutch side) of the main bearing was allowing oil to go into the housing where the live PTO gear is located. Check to see if oil is going into that housing. Good luck.
