    1950 John Deere A clutch

I found out that john deere has the facing asbestos ,part number D1760 R .180 thick , you need two ,for the rip off sum of 100,00 a piece. The identical size and , .150 thick is around 20.00 . John Deere has always been high. Anyway I guess I` will deal with them. JR

    1950 John Deere A clutch

My clutches were shot in my tractor making me adjust the nuts all the way in to where cotter pins wouldn`t work to lock the nuts. This new triangle shaped piece is thinner than the one I pulled out. This piece I`m talking about slides right over your adjusting studs and has friction material...

I shimmed the nuts, but thats a micky mouse b, s. way to do...

1950 JOHN DEERE A valve racket

Rocker arms seem to be extremely noisy. They are set to spec .020 inch. .I pulled the rocker shaft and looked it over and found nothing on the assembly that stood out from normal as far as wear on it.I haven`t checked for oil flow yet. Any chance of weak valve springs. The valves have a little...

1950 John Deere A For one reason or another they didn,t put a shutdown on the mag on this tractor. To shut it down you cut fuel off or idle it down and clutch it ,does not make make much sense. Anyone ever put a kill switch on the magneto, you get into trouble and you instantly kill the the...
