    Power steering ID

I'm trying to identify the model of this torque generator. I need to get the correct port block for it. It looks similar to IHS555 but nothing I can find online says it is. Cast number is 13187 WF1 5L02. Maybe there was a tag at one time but no longer it is fatter than a char lyn 207, 227...

    Char Lyn 207 series

Ahaaa! I found the problem. I removed the filter from the return line to the tank and everything turns as it should. The torque gerenator was getting bound by the hydraulics. Thanks for the help getting there.

    Char Lyn 207 series

I have the return line plumbed in a tee with the return from auxiliary valves and priority valve return. I think the problem is in the torque generator.

    Char Lyn 207 series

No. With the torque generator installed I cannot turn the steering wheel more than a half-turn, 180 degrees.

    Char Lyn 207 series

The steering wheel without the torque generator installed moved a full 540 degrees lock to lock and the front wheels would turn to full extension. With the char lyn torque generator installed, I get 180 degree steering wheel rotation and the front wheels love maybe 5 degrees, barely off center...

    Char Lyn 207 series

Yeah, it's installed and plumbed correctly. The out on the torque generator is the return to tank. Should it rotate 360 degrees is guess is my dilema. I believe it should but it stops hard at 180 degree steering wheel. There is no hydraulic moment of the output side at all, only movement...

    Char Lyn 207 series

I have a nice 1953 Super M that I'm adding a 207 series Char Lyn torque generator for power steering. It's a wide front end with live hydraulics so I'm using a priority valve to feed the steering. The torque generator I'm using is second hand but was told to be a working unit. I have everything...

    Super M wide frt end

I cannot see how it would. There is no bucket on the loader and the assembly is pretty much symmetrical. When I say it pulls to the right, I mean if I let go of the steering wheel it will do donuts all by itself. It would have to be a lot of weight to pull this hard.

    Super M wide frt end

It is not power steering. The measurements on the front wheels seemed OK (to me). Center to center was the same front and back. There is supposed to be some toe in? If so how much? There was no measurable toe out.

    Super M wide frt end

Apologies for the photos. The torch cut sections are directly behind where the loader mounts to the frame rails (green in these pictures). Maybe they were cut to accommodate the loader (?). Any ideas on how to proceed are appreciated. Also any photos of the bolster internals would be...

    Super M wide frt end

I am working on a front end problem on a stage 2 super M. The steering pulls hard to the right but I haven"t yet figured out why. The sector gear in the top of the bolster is tight and there is no slop. I measured the tires last fall thinking they may be toeing out causing the pull in the...

How important is a pressure relief valve?

That's piqued my interest. I have a loader on a super M with no relief valve. Am I wrong to assume the pressure relief in the factory reservoir is enough to prevent damage?
