    2-70's red hot gas cap!

The gas cap off of the 1650 seemed to not get hot or cause any problems, but before I could get the second load of hay to the barn something hydraulic let go under the hood by the Hi Lo shifter on the right side. Got the loader off and hope to have it in the shop this week and take the tins off...

    2-70's red hot gas cap!

Yep, that is me and this is the same tractor. Of course I took the homemade heat houser off. But I do agree this is another variable to this tractor's quirks. At this time, turning the fuel off is a complete fix. It is just unhandy as heck. Boiling, now that comes to mind the sound I was...

    2-70's red hot gas cap!

I am going to take your suggestion and do that. As a kid we always had to shut off the fuel on the M, H and VAC Case. I have gotten lazy with my JD 2510, 1650 and this 2-70 not needed that until now. Appreciate the information, looked it up on amazon and will be ordering one soon.

    2-70's red hot gas cap!

I do greatly appreciate you taking the time and energy to help me with this problem. I have switched gas caps with my 1650 gasser but haven't needed it yet to know if it has created a change. No lift pump or fuel pump, gravity fed system. Now, that is a great question, vacuum or pressure...

    2-70's red hot gas cap!

Wore Out, never in my life have I touched a gas cap that was to hot to handle and whistling like a steam whistle. I debated taking it off, but then thought, "what a fire risk". Obviously learned that the gas was doing something and wanted out of the tank so put it back. Completely foreign...

    2-70's red hot gas cap!

The 2-70 with all of your help is becoming a working tractor. Unusual thing, couple weeks ago went to start it and it seemed locked up. Pulled the dipstick and it was clear full of gas. So I pulled all the sparkplugs and turned it over and it was hydrolocked with gas above the pistons! So...

2-70 Air cleaner and side panels

Have been absent as I have been extremely busy. Got the 2-70 running well. I have a parts catalog and owner's manual for it, but can't find out how to take the side panels off. Guess that is all in the operator's manual which I haven't bought. It does have a loader on it so don't know if the...

    Need mechanic

Check with your local High School or Joint Vocational School and see if they would be interested in checking bearings, honing cylinder walls, doing a valve job and checking head for flatness. They will generally do the work for cost of parts and if it turns out well, surprise them with a bunch...

Barn roof repair / replacement opnions.

When we bought this farm in 1992, the big barn was built in 1941. Metal roof was getting loose so one summer started with the intent to pull the nails and run long roofing screws in old holes. Trying to pull the nails created damage on the roof so quit that idea. I put a screw near each nail...

    Mounted corn pickers

When I first bought our farm, an old farmer knew I was the new Ag teacher and he offered to sell me his Super M with a mounted picker on it for $1,000.00. I wanted it bad but couldn't afford it. Went to his farm sale after he died and watched it bring $4,000.00. It was sitting in the same...

    Lierature Snowmobiles from Farming Companys

Yep, that is the one I have. I don't think ours would go that fast either. Yep, gas tank in the rear, made it easy to slosh the gas mix together if we hadn't ridden in a while. Gas line runs under the seat up to the engine. Mine is a '72 and yes, never let us down on the trail. Spent...
