    Did the stud look like a fresh brake or just rusted off ? If water came out itdid not break off. I had one that looked that way when I pulled it out

    The other day while running my 51 8n my son said it was running rich. So I pulled the plugs and they look good to me they were a lite gray to almost white any whiter I would say it was running lean. But he says the exhaust is way to rich. Any feed back welcome

    Head bolts

    Dell the reason I ask this is because someone ciliconed this sh*t out of them and yes the corners are dry. I just picked this 8 up and found the valve keepers for one of the valves had fallen out. So now we are putting in a new valve and keepers. And Thanks for all the in put .

    Thanks Soundguy the resson I pulled it apart was for the valve someone else took it part in the valves one of the keeps was missing when I bought it. Had a miss I don't know what else they did but they also had the head off. Hope I didn't buy a problem child LOL

    Thanks Soundguy for the input the sleeves move up with the piston but I had to push them back down by hand. I can not pull the sleeve up by hand.

    Well I have a 8n 1951 side dizzy went to take the head off and two bolts broke off will I be able to drill them out or do I need to take it toa machince shop? Also when I turn the motor over by hand three of the sleeves are moving up and down I don't think that's normal? What do I need to do...

    Thanks Hobo for the input and I did look at your link. I did plan on pulling the head and taking a look at the valves. I have rebuild motors but not a flat head that is why I was asking and i will be asking for more input on this because I know someone on here will know the answer. Thanks Here...
