These are both pretty old, the one I've got so much trouble with is from 2004-2005. It seems ok except that I've gotten 2 bad Chinese coils for it so far. I just ordered an OEM coil from a place in Ohio, that should work better. The smaller one is from 2011, it seems ok except the carb is... -

I wish that's what mine was. ;-) I tested the switch with my meter and also completely unhooked it from the coil so it couldn't ground it. I ordered another coil and started on the small Homelite. It has a good spark and even fired on carb cleaner so this one is only going to need a quick... -

Yes, I checked it with a meter and can see it turning on and off but I tried it with the kill switch wire completely unplugged. Yep, it's a cheapo Amazon coil. I think I'll try it again and order another one from a different vendor. Kerry -

That's what was bugging me, there's really nothing else to go wrong with these things, there's nothing to them. I've never been able to not fix one before but they are usually carb problems. ;-) I'll probably pull out the new coil and send it back then find a different one and try again... -

I have a compression tester I used on my old 8n a while back but it feels like the compression on the saw is very good when I pull it through. The part number is on the front of the coil and it matches the number on the original and also the part number I found online so I think it's the right... -

I guess they aren't all THAT old. I rebuilt one for my grandfather when I was in HS back in the 70s, it was an old Craftsman and had a big gear drive on the side, I think I remember the gear was made of phenolic or something like that. I got it running great but it was a heavy sucker. -

If what you're calling the magneto is the coil with the plug wire attached, I just got a new one on Amazon. So if it has electronic ignition does it not have points and a plunger under the flywheel like the old Briggs motors had? I haven't dug under the flywheel on a 2 stroke in a long time... -

The manual says UT10518, on the side of the saw it says 4618C. I also have a smaller one that says 3514C that I haven't started on yet. I'm trying to figure out about how old they are, I doubt they are electronic. My father died in 2015 and the last saw he had was the Husqvarna I'm using... -

Washed out pond dam
We have a spillway on the end of the dam, it's worked well for about 50 years but that's one of the things I'm going to check. I'll either use a transit or a water level to make sure my repair is higher than the little spillway. I'll probably have to dig it a little deeper to make sure it...- kerrygeek

Washed out pond dam
I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I thought I'd give it a shot. I was checking one of our ponds yesterday (NE Texas) and noticed it was low. We recently got 4.5 of rain so it should be full. I walked the dam and there's a wash out about 3' deep in the dam, maybe 2-3'...- kerrygeek

Long 2610 needs to be bled periodically
Dieseltech, I'm attaching 2 pictures, the bottom filter is the first one coming from the fuel pump, the top one is the second filter. There's a fitting on top of the top filter with a hose that goes back to the tank, is that where I need to look? There's also a small round thing behind that...- kerrygeek
