    4240 Load Control shaft leaking

Are there any tips or tricks to replacing the seals on the load control shaft on a 4240? Does the control lever/arms need to be in a certain spot before tearing it apart?

Storing round bales under a tarp

Thanks for the replies guys. It sounds like I should be safe with either approach. Obviously if we have the weather we will make dry hay and stack it right out of the field. If some of the hay is questionable we will let it sweat before being stacked. The stack will run East and West and we...

Storing round bales under a tarp

I should have mentioned that the bales are not net wrapped and they are stacked on pallets.

Storing round bales under a tarp

I've got a question on the timing of when to stack round bales under a tarp. Is it OK to stack round bales in a pyramid and cover them with a tarp directly after baling (same day/next day)? Assuming dry hay of course. Or do the bales need to "sweat" for a few days no matter how dry the hay is...

    International 710 plow question

Let me preface this post with the fact that I am very new to operating a semi-mount plow. I have been plowing with a JD 6400 and IH 710 four bottom plow. Overall the setup seems to be working well. However, plowing on a hill when the furrow is on the uphill side seems to be an issue. The...

What does spark knock sound like?

I forgot to mention this but unfortunately I have the timing as retarded as I can get it. I had a timing light on it and I am at about 30 degrees BTDC. The governor to cam gear mesh is correct because the mag drive lug is horizontal when the flywheel is in the correct position.

What does spark knock sound like?

I've got a G that I believe is pinging when accelerating but I'm not totally sure. I've never heard spark knock before so I may just be paranoid. I'm running 93 pump gas and when speeding the engine up I can hear a weird noise for a split second before it gets up to speed. I'm not sure if I'm...

    Anybody use glyptal?

Just as the subject says, has anybody used this stuff? I'm thinking about coating the inside of some cast iron parts like the factory did when the tractor was new. The parts have some areas where the factory stuff is gone. How do you guys remove the oil and grease that soaked in to these old...

    Today's hydraulic fluid in a 2 cylinder

I'm wanting to disc with my G this spring. The power-trol manual calls for the same oil used in the engine to be used in the hydraulics. The problem is is that the disc I'll be using has modern hydraulic oil in the cylinder, hy-gard I believe. I don't want to mix the two oils for obvious...

    JD G hydraulics

I guess that's true, didn't think about that.

    JD G hydraulics

Hi all, Interested in doing some discing with a G in the spring to break it in after an overhaul. This will be my first time using the hydraulics on it. What needs to be adjusted/checked before using it? I can't seem to find the oil capacity anywhere (IT shop manual doesn't have it)...

    9n governor washer

Hi all, I recently took on a project of tearing down and inspecting a 9n governor. This is my first time dealing with a Ford so bear with me. I have it torn down and have new parts coming that were worn. I have a question about a part that was missing when I tore it apart. It is the washer...
