    WOW! I thought it was a simple question. I did not think it would restart a soapbox of opinions. To the person that suggested plugs and wires, I think you nailed it. I changed wires and was able to mow with it dieing one time... Thanks.

    Okay I just soaked, blewout, and rebuilt the carb so the needle and seat should be fine.. It is driving me nuts.. I can start and it runs fine, I decide to go and try to mow, it starts sputtering looses power then starts running okay for s minute or less then starts bearly running. And...

    I should say early ford 8N I have redone carb and checked governor. Flushed fuel tank and cleaned sediment bowl and filter. Starting to get puzzled.

    it has the older double arm that goes down to the pump. The spare set I have is from a newer side mount Distributor 8N. That has the single arm that goes to pump valve

    I have a 8N that suddenly is running crappy.it will spitter and sputter then run like it should, then go back to the sputtering. Take it off and blow it out? Or is it possibly the governor.

    Will a later version hydraulic pump and lift top replace the older style units. I have a rebuildable set and want to upgrade. Are the passages and mounting holes all the same?
