Ford 6000 Information Help
My guess is the number stamped is 61106-5-D. The -5 would indicate factory wide front end. Where the 61106 would indicated 6000-Ag Chassis, Row Crop, Select-O-Speed with dual speed pto. -

Here is my 4000 High Crop that came on the Row Crop platform. Same from spindles minus the machined out portion to go around the dog legs. -

Yes they did make them although they were never advertised as an option. Mine is a 1962 2000 All Purpose set up the exact same way as you mention. Unique little tractor that was found in North Carolina and brought home to Illinois to be restored. -

ford 740
The late 740s could come either way. I have a 1956 740 serial number in the 88,xxx's that is stamped 740-5 with the wide front under it. I've never ran across another one that is a 1956 with the factory wide front end. I ran across a 960 last month that was 1956 serial number 101,xxx that was... -

Ford 4000 serial # ?
They are raised letters just to the right of the radiator cap. For whatever reason they didn't stamp the radiators on the smaller tractors (600,700,601,701, 2000) only on the tractors with the 172 ci engine. -

Serial numbers are all within the diamonds like you said and 44365 would put it in a 1964. Above the serial number should be another set of numbers probably 41102 from the looks of the tractor. If it has the original radiator you can also look on top of the right side of it with the hood open...
