    New Holland haybines 469 & 479

I have a 479 New Holland haybine that I have owned and used since 1989. I bent the tongue. A neighbor has a 469 and it looks VERY similar to my 479. The local New Holland dealer says parts won't interchange. It still looks the same to me. Could he be wrong? Could the parts interchange...

479 vs 469 New Holland haybine

Have a 479 haybine I have owned since '89. Have had little trouble with it. Bent the tongue yesterday. Really broke it in two pieces. Anyway a neighbor has a 469 (except for some missing pieces) that looks to be in better shape than mine. Will any of the parts interchange? Can I take parts...

    Numbering on rods

Yes, I noticed that the numbers are stamped on the rods and caps at the edge right next to each other. If you put the caps back on with the numbers next to each other you can't make a mistake. The stampings are so precise and neat I assumed it must have been done by the factory. Maybe if I...

    Numbering on rods

When trying to reassemble engine number three rod wouldn't torque to specs. Rod bolt stretching. I am going to have to replace the rod. After looking closely at all the rods I notice that each is numbered (stamping on rod and cap) according to the cylinder that it occupies. Is there a reason...

    Trailer hitch ball

The reason I was asking, I have a 50 hp Long tractor that I cut and bale hay with. I use a New Holland 479 haybine and a Vermeer 5400 round baler. Over the years the hole in the draw bar has become worn to the point that I am going to have to replace the draw bar. Sometimes my pea sized brain...

    Trailer hitch ball

Please indulge ignorance, but, why don't they use trailer hitch and ball type hook up for implements? Seems to me it would be easier? Monty

    Head Studs

1947 2N When removing the head a couple of the studs came out with the nut. Any negative consequences from heating the nut? Is the stud heat treated? Would heating it reduce the strength? Thanks Monty

    OT-1929 Ford Tri-Motor

Have approximately 1000 hrs each in the C-97 and the C-124. They both had 4360s. The very first time I was in a C-124 we had an engine fire. Some said they were a bunch of bolts flying in formation. Have picture of my dad in front of a tri-motor that he flew in. Monty

    engine sleeve

When it rains it pours. Pulled head. Number two sleeve is loose. Comes up with piston. No witness marks from sleeve on head. HOWEVER, witness marks on head and pistons from pistons hitting head! One piston had no marks, two had marks that were just barely visible, one you could see. New...

    Engine Sleeve

Getting ready to pull head. From suggestions I have received there is a good chance that a loose sleeve could be causing the noise I hear. As this is the first time I have ever had to deal with sleeves some questions come to mind. 1. There must be a lip at the top of the sleeve that keeps one...

    Oil pressure now, but.....

Thanks for the good advice. You were right on the tube. We have already buttoned her up once after repairing the oil pick-up tube and the oil pressure was real good. Almost 60 psi. Thanks for the advice about the chalks. Don't know what I was thinking.

    OT Mercury and International picture

They look Great !! Merc looks like a 1953 model? I am partial to the 1953 Ford and Merc style. Only new car my folks ever bought was '53 Ford. It was the car I took to college in 1960. Monty
